There's also experience vs potential to consider as well. Indiana has only 2 4*'s who start (out of 7 total), 0 5*'s, or top 100 guys on the roster.

Cignetti's recruiting strategy targeted experienced guys (get old) who were mostly 3*'s that fit culturally and within his system.
And got results….. (AA / All conf. / part of a successful team/ etc.).

He was quoted as saying that the difference between the lower divisions, G5 and P4 is pretty slim. Which is why I am liking CJR’s approach. Find solid lower division guys (that got results) that can make the leap to P5.

He also said he didn't care where they came from or what their stars were, as long as they had showed results of success...proven. Sounds like what JFR is trying to do too.

Great addition but isnt there a lot on the DL
Probably so. But if I'm starting from scratch with a new team, I would figure I need 8 really good players. Defense needs to go full speed every play and that tires you out. So you have to rotate players. Ideally, I would want 20 guys to find the best 8. But you can't do that. I'm still going to want as many as I can get with the roster limitations. If I don't have a good D line, then I'm not going to have a good D.

I think you'd want at least 12 guys ready to play any given week...an absolute minimum of 8 since we are running a 4 man front.
I guess but you could apply that logic to other position as well. I would rather have more on OL or WR.

Sorry if this has been addressed, but sifting through 400 pages is daunting…What’s the status of Will McLaughlin? Wasn’t he just a junior this past fall? I don’t see him on the staying or leaving lists.

I thought LB and WR were our worst positions last year. I'm not very worried about replacing them.

D-line should be good, D-backs should be fine, QB will be fine, RB will be fine, TE will be a big step down, but as long as the block ok, will be fine.

The O-line is my biggest worry. We have no idea how that will come together.
Give it until June for Williams and Blum to tell us this is best O-Line in program history. ;)
