Yes, I love when people talk about an OL coach and talk about how their philosophy is to be violent, physical, etc just like every OL coach, OC and HC in football history.
You need all of this, but you still have to instill proper technique. Bill Callahan was terrible as a head coach, but he knows how to coach OL. He teaches that often the difference between a winning play and a poor play comes down to a 1- inch difference in hand or foot placement.

If this fan base treats Rogers with the same kid gloves it treated Campbell, Rogers would be out of his mind to leave if he finds success here. He can have a salary for life doing what he loves and we’ll build him a statue, even if he keeps making the same mistakes for 10+ years.
Unless the coach has some pretty deep ties to the school, the idea that the coach would be crazy to leave is assuming they’re just there to collect a paycheck. Yes, the paycheck matters, but successful coach want to win - period. No mercy. They’re there to build programs, win games and make the playoffs. They would continue to coach at a school if they have access to the all tools they need (especially if they’re successful - they’ll want more). They’re going to want: an AD that allows them to operate, a supportive fan base, facilities and in today’s era, sufficient NIL. ISU doesn’t have all those at the CFP level. ISU needs the badass, hungry coaches, but keeping them, if they’re successful, is an extremely daunting task.

I’m not enthusiastic about a coach that thinks ‘I’m making pretty good coin here and maybe I’ll get a statue, I think I’ll stay another year’.

True. However, Rogers appears to make it a priority. While Campbell recruited OL as if it was an afterthought.

If nothing else that’s a big step in the right direction.
Really impressed with our OLrecruiting.

That said - it had to be a priority, as we only had 1 OLineman on the team, and he is a non starter. So, we needed 9 just to be 2 deep.

I suspect that every year the portal priority will simply be the position group of greatest need.

I don’t know if that’s true. As far as I know, we have Barrett, Holt, Rutledge and Jensen. At least I haven’t seen those 4 in the portal.

Except for Rhoads OL coaches. Mauling was not even in their vocabulary. They were doing weird things.

What are people thinking we will have for RB? I know we lost Lee, Sama, and Hansen, but I have seen any RB in incoming lists or on watch lists?
