Your point was valid. One semi final appearance is not the reason for Penn States inflated sense of pride. It’s largely built on success from the past much like Nebraska.

How do these 2nd and 3rd team ISU players entering the portal think they are going to better themselves, especially if they are underclassmen or haven't proven themselves on the field? If we've lost 40+ players, a lot of them can't have much of a resume to sell themselves on??

Not unless we came up with 5.5M for the two QBs. That is what Matt is paying them! 3.5M for Rocco…. And $2M for Algona kid.

Can only assume this means Rogers is confident we can do better. Unless this guy just reallly loves it at Wazzu.

I think that's the right answer.

Bring in 25ish HS kids each year and hope to create strong coach/player & player/school relationships in hope they develop as players and stick around.

But the other reality is kids are always in the portal to be recruited. Using Manske as an example, even if Campbell stayed, it wouldn't have surprised me if schools like A&M or KSU didn't take another run at him.

Going forward it wouldn't surprise me if Iowa State is successful, that around 25 players enter the portal each season. Losing around 10-15 first/second string guys to more money and 10-15 bottom of roster players because they won't play

I don't think he needs to bring in 25 high school kids each year, especially the first year or two. Maybe take the best quality ones you can get. I could see him bringing in mostly portal transfers the first year or two. They are going to be physically more developed and have college experience. Bring in as many quality transfers as you can and let them compete for playing time.

Similar to what TJ has done. Some years we have few or no HS players that stick with the team and bring in transfer players to fill out the roster.

I guarantee at least a handful come back. Only fans would burn bridges with all players like that.

I've said this before but if those numbers are right and Brahmer gets $1.5 mil MC is going to blow through that $30 mil pretty quickly.
