So it seems like this House deal is going to end up hurting schools like ISU and others that do not have a lot of cash, because it forces us to come with at least $20 million each season, out of reserves right now to pay it. Then also come up with other moneys for NIL. What some were stated during the summer was a hard cap, now is nothing but a floor to get your school into the game, but does little to nothing to reign in spending of the schools that have money and want to spend it.

We're all going to watch the super league according to this former Fox guy (about the 19:30 mark).

I am not watching anything. I refuse to have this nonsense foisted upon me. The teams that spend the most will win the most.

Whether they will or not is the $64,000 question, I highly doubt if ISU is left out that many Cyclone fans are going to switch their loyalty
I think I would remain a Cyclone fan even if they were a Big East or Mountain West team. I don't HAVE to be a college football fan at all. I couldn't even tell you who won the ESPN Invitational game last night.

If ratings (and ad revenue) go down 20%, but costs go down 40%...

Plus you can bet that TV execs think that fans of left-behinds and casuals will join over time. And they might be right, who knows.
No thanks, I'm not changing my fandom from anyone but ISU. The TV ppl and other fan bases can get bent, I'm not cheering for anyone else ever.

ESPN will always salivate at the idea there could be an NFL Light where they pull the strings. But they really don't understand college fandom. If they ever get it, they will lose tons of money as fans move more to following the real pro game. The bad news is that those losses will all be passed on in smaller payouts to teams outside the super league. ESPN is the devil.

We've survived and thrived in the past as a basketball school with a football problem...seems to sort itself out every time. Chin up. We're fine!
Ya but things have changed, basketball is an afterthought in college athletics until March. You have to be good in football to survive in 2025.

It’s over. With Rocco entering the portal, the floodgates are about to open.

It was fun while it lasted.
Players come and players go. If the new coach lives up to his resume, we'll be fine at least in the short term. Long term, the entire sport may be done.

The churn will start because the semester is over. I hope players would do the right thing and tell Rogers or their position coach that they plan to enter portal in a face to face discussion.

I would agree, it might seem like the flood gates are open, because we will hear about the big names who can make bank in the portal first.

But I don't look at the flood gates being open as the equivalent as the SKY IS FALLING. Iowa State has a $13M budget, not $30M. So Rogers will need to spend wisely to build a roster.

It doesn't make sense to spend 80% of our budget on a handful of players.
