***Official portal tracker thread***

We're losing 3 stars and replacing them with 3 stars? How do we know the difference between the 3 stars other than individual negative or positive perspectives?
Right now? Nothing. They’re just opportunities. We’ll see the difference after the program is done with them. Recruiting is one thing; development is a whole other.

Kids, kids! The portal is about to overflow.

I don’t think just the fans are about to be heartbroken either. Keeping in mind there are going to be guys in the portal who will be getting a wake up call on their value.

I’m not sure MC takes on all of our defections…maybe they have homes, maybe some we don’t want? But there will be a lot of sellers…and CU, KU, and multiple others aren’t going to be buyers or at least trusted buyers.

I’m also wondering how many of our guys jumped in because they might have priced themselves out of our market with their demands?
Bingo on the last paragraph. Some of these players believe, falsely I think, that they’re going to get auctioned off and get this big bag o cash. Why? Sleazy agents are telling them so. Agents are the real winners in NIL, and many many of them are only looking for their cut without really caring about what’s best for kids.

Campbell was getting the 60th-80th best OL ranked commits that were 3 stars. We just got that wardon guy that was what? The 177th ranked OL and really really low 3 star. There is a difference between 3 stars lol. All I’m saying is that these type of commits are what MAC teams are getting. Bowling green in Ames this year will be an absolute dog fight… ****, SEMO will be a fight.

If you have no P4 offers I don’t know how you think it’s a stretch to say that.
I don't know where you are seeing "no P4 offers" at. When I look up the bios, I see Arizona, Arizona State, Northwestern, Minnesota, Cal, Colorado, etc in their offers. And the lack of offers some of these guys are getting are due to regions and most bigger schools mostly being west of the Rocky Mountains and not sending scouts to those areas. A USC is getting 4 and 5 star guys so yes, they are going to look past them and expect them to walk on. But these guys are on the same caliber of pretty much any Big 12 or ACC schools recruits outside of Miami or Clemson.

You can't be serious.

Campbell won with players similar to these guys. They aren't just random kids, they are players the current staff have evaluated as good fits for their program. I think this is especially true if the defensive players.
These are incoming freshmen. We are a development program. The kids in this class will look remarkably different in a year after nutrition and strength programs. Again in two years. 2026 record will be the result of our success in retention and portal. We aren’t relying on these kids to walk in and start. Trust Jimmy.

MAC teams get 2 stars with the occasional 3. They aren't loading up on 3 star guys.

Tell me you know nothing about football without telling me…

Looking at this only 3 of 14 kids didn’t have P4 offers, and one of them is the highest rated player in the class thus far:

Again, what do you want this staff to do? Are they supposed to be getting kids from P5 schools with the 3 weeks they’ve had? Are you at all prepared if this is a 4-8 team next year? Gonna have to give this staff more than just a few months.

I looked back at our decommits and can totally understand why Campbell left. The staff identified Thomalla and Parris early in this year’s recruiting cycle when nobody was in on them only for them to decommit and go to a blue blood.

If you're talking about Fotualii, he's from Washington. Very few washington recruits got offers in general. It's not a strong bed for known talent so scouting departments don't waste time. That area is gobbled up by Oregon St, Washington and WSU. And his immediate comparisons around him for the state are washington (a p4 school) commits. You're simply expecting too much from a coach who joined after national signing day. Getting any recruits at all at this point is more than expected and ahead of schedule. And yes, the recruits are P4 level recruits.

Blue blood resources come with blue blood expectations. I'm not saying he made the wrong move, but they won't tolerate 8-4 seasons being the norm like we would here.
