***Official Meltdown Thread***

I'd have to say ISU's just not that good but I'll also blame the weather patterns for good measure.

I bet they have a sweet players only meeting where they discuss their feels goals for the season and maybe latest Tina Fey and Amy Poehler movie.

Every B12 coach got good game film strategies how to shut down Georges; just do the box-n-1 face guard.

Oh, and just wait for the #crapmypants meltdown when Iowa gets ranked and seeded higher in the Dance.
So far, they are the better team. I would have no problem with that if the season ended today. Lot of season left, though.

yep. The depth issue isn't going away and Monte is clearly hurt.

Its on fred for screwing Iowa state over. CW and Blum and Fred and all of his people fed us the line of **** that the program was better off if he left last year. It wasn't. Fred screwed over prohm by not recruiting players after Monte and Matt

I am honored to be included in the melt-down thread.

We were better last year and still depended on out-playing teams and had a very similar loss to Baylor. Now we don't have Naz, Hogue, and even BDJ, or the coach that designed and put together such a limited roster. To be frank, Georges is special on offense, but we have been a system team that out-plays their opponents, and we no longer have the shooters or mastermind behind the system.
How is the offense a problem? We are still scoring a ton of points. We are bad defensively and get worse because we have no depth.

I miss being able to eat cashews outta my ISU brand nut cup.

60 BAY points in 2nd half ?#?$/ 60 friggin points? are you kidding me? and we scored 51 and still lost

Completely skewed stat. Both teams scored 10 points in final 1:04 of the game. Worst 51 point half for ISU that I have ever seen, ever

In hindsight, Fred should have taken the GS job. He likely would have a ring, and ISU a couple of actual recruiting classes. Might have to give back the Big 12 Tourney, but maybe also the UAB loss. Really anything is preferred over the stop in recruiting and leaving in June before what should have been an all-time peak year.

Is Monte hurt? He is a very good pg, but imo his game is the same as last year just on a system team not playing the system quite as well. He does not have the shooters to work with and we can't give him any rest to be fresh.

This should not be a meltdown. It was easy enough to see this coming as early as last spring and last year's team over-performing exposed us to some unrealistic expectations.

no problem. You did write that column.

I am very grateful for the 5 years and for Georges and Monte and jameel and Matt and naz. They are great players. But our depth is a big problem and that's all on Fred. And everyone with brain function knows this team would be better with Fred. Only because he's the one they know.

So so when I got told how great of a favor he was doing us (TJ), it irritates me.

i am sure Monte is hurt. He's slow moving laterally and his shot is off.

If we beat them down the court, we win. We got beat at our own game, transition. Plus, can we run an offense in the second half?

Our offense is not the problem in the general sense (I don't recall saying it was the problem in any sense) it is a problem is the sense that was/has always been our only hope in countering our poor defense and rebounding. That counter is not coming. I did say we were a system team that out-played people, particularly in needing high energy and smart play on both ends.

Our defense and rebounding has always been pretty poor (recall we lost a similar game to Baylor last year), but now due to the same roster weaknesses plus even less depth than before, it puts even more pressure for what we were designed to do (offense) to be damn near perfect.

yeah we might be better off had he bailed sooner. I still think he really screwed us over by not quitting until June. It's not like he had to have a job all of the time.

Probablt the the best thing for Iowa state would be had he stayed and then we would know the new guy would be starting over.
