Sorry pal... We're a good enough team in the 4th year of a consistent program to make the EASY plays. The effing EASY plays.
This is it. We don't have WRs and QB who would play for basically any other Big12 team. Passing game suffers. We have to make do. We won't beat the top 3-4 teams in the conference without an upgrade.
We've been close for a while, we're now hoping to be more than close and to get over the hump. It doesn't mean we didn't see some very good things on the field, it means we believe and we want more along with the team. Moral victories mean **** in reality, nobody says "remember when we lost by 6 to #5 Kansas State?". They say, remember when we knocked OSU out of the BCS, etc.
If you expect to beat a top 10 team every week then you are going to be just as disappointed with the fact that you never bagged the prom queen.
This team has made huge progress and you have to be able to accept that we can't win them all. I think the highest ranked team we ever beat until last year was #7 Nebraska. I could be wrong, but that seems correct.
If you can't see that we are very similar to KSU and that we could have won the game had we simply made the easy plays, I don't know what to tell you.
Why wouldn't we "expect" to beat a top 10 team when we had the ball at our own 40, down by 6, with 2:43 left? wtf were you expecting exactly at that point?

If we had KSU's klein, we would be the team ranked in the top-10.
Yeah, I have seen enough the last 4 years to know it makes me sick that we let KSU go 4-0 against us.
This, it's not that we lost to this team, but how we lost. I'll admit, if we beat them, they had a legit gripe to say they gave it to us, because they tried on every account to give us this game. We just couldn't find a way to make easy plays. How many times does a wide open receiver get overthrown by 10 yards? Happened twice to us in the last 10 minutes.
Could have won that game. Yes, I agree. Would have been great if we did. I'm sure the team is frustrated that they laid it all on the field and lost and missed opportunities.
I guess my point is, as a fan, stop acting like YOU deserve a win from this team. These guys have less athletic talent than their opponent pretty much every week they line up. They play their hearts out and all the fans do is **** and moan.
Give it time before you start expecting to win every week. These are good kids and they bust their balls. People sit on this board during a game against #6 and say how much so and so sucks. Really? Nice support of your team. What do you do for them? They go out there every week and lay it on the line and you must somehow feel like they owe something to you.
Obvious there aren't many former athletes on this board. Go out there and bleed on that field, get knocked senseless, wake up the day after a game where you can barely move and then hear about how much your "fans" think you suck.

Jared Barnett has had some great games, but he's also been very flat in others. I'd be tempted to rotate QBs. If CPR was so convinced Barnett was the solution, he would have been the starter to begin the season, and he wouldn't have been yanked in the bowl game. Keep the QB competition open all fall, every week, and go with the hot hand. And hit the recruiting trail to bring in jucos and whoever else is needed at the QB position! Lots of things going well for ISU right now, but the QB position must improve or else we'll always just be squeaking out six wins every year, if that. This defense is so excepcional its really a waste not to get them more support with a better offense.
I've seen more "this defense deserves better" than "I deserve this" posts. You JB's grandpa or something?
...I agree too. No excuses now, we are playing with CPR's players. He recruited 'em, allowed them to walk on, or w/e he did, it was his choice to put this team out there on the field. (IMHO... I think JB panicked at the end.) He was throwing short passes to wide open players at 752mph. Or overthrowing them. In the grand scheme of things, we lost and that's all there is to it.
I don't think all of the blame rests on the QB. Look at ISU running game. I can't remember a good running play all game. I do remember lots of zone reads on 1st and 10 getting nothing. The o-line did pretty well in pass protection today, but played poorly in the run game. Maybe the problem is that we only have the zone read? Also on the last ISU offensive play, why are there 2 receivers together running 3 yard out routes when we need 5 yards? I didn't see a lot out of the WRs today either. Horne and Brun had some nice catches but there were a lot of balls that hit the hands and weren't caught. Overall glad to see that we competed and came up with some big stops on d. Go clones
as much as i hate to, i have to say i agree with this... what do we have to lose??? we have 2 inconsistent somewhat streaky QBs, play hot hand til someones hot hand doesnt go away...
