According to the precedent set by the committee last year, this should mean Georgia is eliminated from the playoff and Alabama gets in anyway.

Right? Right? Florida State saying, what the hell, committee?

I mean, I hate the SEC but its 100% a different scenario.

Travis literally was Florida State. Or 50% of it.
Georgia wins in spite of Beck most of the time.

It'd be like disqualifying the Baltimore Ravens from winning the super bowl because Trent Dilfler got hurt. Or the Bears with Rex Grossman. Its fun hating on the SEC and the committee but Travis was the engine that drove FSU last year.

Beck is just the uber you pray to god can follow Siri's directions.

The backup arguably is better or just as good. SO I mean, they played the same position etc but yeah... its like sun and moon difference. Once was literally the main reason the school was there. The other's just kind of some dude you found

Carson Beck is my wife's cousin so it's always weird to read the hate he gets from all over, especially no-rivals. His grandfather grew up in George, Iowa. Carson ended up getting the same injury the other night that Purdy had in the NFC championship game. Don't know how bad yet.

Just listened to Locked on bama.
Their main points:
1. Bama didn’t get robbed they got snubbed. Huh?
2. There are no easy games in the sec.
3. Texas benefited from an easy Sec schedule.
4. They begged the Big 10 to fix this.
The delusion is really, really funny. They're convinced that SMU could never beat anyone from the top half of the SEC, including Bama... who got blown out by Oklahoma... who is definitely worse than SMU.

It is. They indicated vandy would have cake walked through the acc. They got beat by 3-9 Georgia State! I recommend everyone listen to at least one bama podcast. Like you said, delusional.

You’ve also got point 2 - there are no easy games in the SEC! - followed immediately by point 3 - Texas got lucky with a weak SEC schedule!

Umm … both those things cannot be true.

Exactly and I’ve heard the same thing on podcast after podcast. I really don’t think they thought through what they just said.

SMU was 11-1 and BYU was 10-2. With similar resumes, SMU should have gotten in. That said, BYU did get jobbed in their ranking. I’m glad SMU got in because you shouldn’t be penalized for making and losing your conference title game…..
Talking SMU, it was surprising to hear they have nine transfers from Miami. Is there some sort of following a coach connection?

It's not the worst bottom of a conference but it's not like they are 16 deep. (using computer composite)

46 Vandy
54 Arkansas
62 Auburn
69 Kentucky
102 Miss St

The Big 12, Big Ten and ACC have just slightly worse bottom five. ACC has a really weak middle compared to B12. After the top 4 the Big 12 compares pretty identical to Big Ten.

The SEC is the best conference and I do get the gripe that it's weird the best conference has less teams than another...but 3 out of 12, 25% of the field, that's enough to absolutely dominate if they're as good as they say they are. Alabama clearly blew their chances.

In the college football playoff era, the SEC probably gets 4 bids twice. And they probably get one bid twice. They would average between two and three bids. So getting three this year is not a down year for the SEC compared to estimates for previous years. I would say the top end of the SEC is not a strong as previous years IMHO.

'Bama would have been bounced early in the playoffs. Now, they can go enjoy a week in Tampa, beat Michigan to finish (2-0) in the B1G and (10-3) overall. Best first year for an Alabama HC since Frank Thomas went (9-1) in 1931.

Just looking at Texas, their total offense in the SEC is fairly comparable to what they did in the Big 12, 450 yards in SEC, 475 yards Big 12. Not like the Big 12 is a big drop off.

Texas’ non- profit NIL cooperative raised $10.5 million and had over $13 million in expenses and distributions, according to their tax return.
