***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***

I get that Gonzo is an Iowa fan, and the Big 10 might just be the best academic conference outside of the Ivy League, but I've never understood ISU fans calling the SEC a "cesspool academic conference." While I consider ISU to be a very good academic college, when it's the second or third best college in the Big 12 academically, it's essentially the pot calling the kettle black. For instance, Taco Tech, K-State, and West Virginia are probably as bad if not worse than anything the SEC has to offer.

My point was that I think, academically, UNC would rather run with schools like Michigan, Northwestern, Virginia (if it happens), Wisconsin, Illinois, Penn St. I know realignment is about TV markets and athletic dollars, but academics and academic reputation is a big-time concern to a lot of alums and donors. Maybe 'cesspool' is a bit strong, but the SEC isn't close and UNC just would seem like a strange fit.

Go ahead, give in to your inner urges and list Iowa among them. We all know you're thinking it...might as well say it, too

My gut says, ACC is trying to bulk up to become supreme basketball conference (supplanting Big East in that regard) while maintaining as much football relevance as possible (that is, no worse than current status). Possibly, possibly massaging ND as all-sport member down the line.

ACC can part with Maryland and pick up Lou-uh-vul as equal trade-off (and possibly expand regional TV-reach).

Not s great move by Louisville unless the ACC gets a tv deal increase or they all sign a GoR. They still make far less than everyone else, i don't se how this would keep anyone from leaving got another conference.

I think the big 12 made a mistake by not adding louisville. I can' really support that with hard facts but I think we will regret it in the long run. Louisville seemed like it would have fit well in our league. i'm worried about WVU being on an island.

I personally would have rather had Louisville than TCU.

The problem is Louisville didn't have a partner (worth enough money to cover Louisville's shortfall in value) to bring with them to the Big 12.

Yes because playing a game every other year in Louisville, Kentucky would of benefited ISU much more then one in Fort Worth, Texas.

We have plenty of football games in Texas. Look at what adding Louisville could have added to the MBB profile vs. TCU.

21,000 fans for Louisville basketball. TCU will probably average 2,100.
