You have a valid point.

PSU is still a topic that is discussed with some regularity but BU isn't on that scale. However, BU was covering up repeated criminal acts of their players. That seems far worse than what SMU was doing (paying players). There is a 30 for 30 on SMU. Pretty good story, as are most 30 for 30's.
 
In my opinion Penn State and Baylor were covering up the same thing, rape. Penn State just at a much more disgusting level. And Penn State didn't get booted from the high and almighty Big Ten.

PSU and Baylor don't have anywhere close to the same tradition or status in CFB. Prior to Sandusky, JoPa was in Bear Bryant, Bobby Bowden territory. Baylor was the equivalent of the current KU football program 5 yrs ago. What are they going to do, take PSU and their 100K+ seat stadium and national following and put them in the MAC? Baylor is much easier to punt from the big boy table for similar internal transgressions than PSU.

Given what we know about Nebraska and their ways, just understand that this "plan" is just going to be used by Nebby as leverage to increase their payout to the same level as the 11 long standing members of that conference. I seriously doubt they have any plans to go anywhere.

According to USA Today, Nebraska got $20 million this past year, the "old" Big Ten members got $32 million.

Boren's time is short and I think he is now trying like hell to get OU out of the B12.

Once he realized that expansion would not be approved without a GOR extension, he is now pursuing Plan B.
 
A couple of days ago, I told my co-worker/U-M fan about the Nebraska-to-Big 12 rumor, and he said, "Great, you can have them back. Good riddance."

Nothing of relevance there, but I found it amusing.
 
Nebraska begins making a full share starting next season which will be around $45 million a year...it will be the first year that they will actually start making money since joining the BIG so I find it hard to believe they want back in the big 12. However...it is clear that their once great brand and national presence has nearly all but disappeared since joining the BIG..they completely lost their Tx recruiting grounds and had to almost start over recruiting wise...

I've been saying for quite some time now that I am terrified for ISu future and relevance..and I've been ripped for it. For once it would be great if little ISu made a move first if we could. Heck tell the BIG Presidents that we would be willing to take 70% of a full share for first 10 years...Do whatever it takes..If ISU doesn't land in a major conference our sports teams are dead.

Serious question for you: why the **** did you think that was worth posting? That was a lot of typing to write 'Somebody made up some ridiculous **** that has no basis in reality'.

While I think a Pac12/Big12 merger into a 16 or 18 team conference is the most likely option to save the Big12 in 5-6 years. IMO the SEC isn't a crazy option if we see growth to 16 or 18 team conferences. An ISU/KU addition brings two schools strong in academics and basketball. Geographically, a group of ISU, KU, Mizzou and Arkansas would make for easy roadtrips. Also the Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi schools are closer than Texas.

I type fast so it took about a minute of my life which was a better minute spent than reading and responding to your criticism. Enjoy your day and next time hopefully everyone checks with you before sharing information.

I think a better question would be why the **** did you think your opinion on this matters to anyone?

I don't put much truth in the Neb rumor, but one thing differentiating the Big12 from the other 4 P5 conferences is schools keep their Tier 3 rights. Texas has about 120M reasons to keep the LHN going beyond the current expiration of the Big12 GOR. Maybe Neb feels they can make Longhorn type money on their 3rd tier rights. Maybe via a subscription model.

I also feel that could be the selling point to schools like USC, UCLA, Stanford, etc when it comes time for the Pac12 GOR to expire. While equal revenue sharing is great for schools like ISU, KSU, KU, OSU, etc. I still think we can be competitve on the field/court if Texas, OU, etc keep a bigger share of conference TV rights $.

I think Nebraska would pull in some major cash for their Tier 3 rights, which is one of the two reasons I would even entertain a NU return as a remote possibility. The other being the "fit" where they miss their Texas recruiting.

What that means is that Texas cannot participate in any conference network until the LHN deal has expired.

An ESPN contact gave me the info on the LHN contract. The takeaway is that ESPN wants the Big 12 intact.
