***Official back to school thread***

Oldest just started Kindergarten. Many decades after I started that journey.

At least 500 people were there for the first day. It was pretty amazing. This was after 2 orientations and meetings with school staff.

My first day was MUCH different. I believe my mom slowed the car down just enough for me to jump and roll.

We were completely on our own. There's the door. Don't get lost on the way home and let yourself in. See you after I get home from work.

Edit: just found out there's ANOTHER meeting to discuss the year's agenda. Jeesh. 100% sure my parents had no idea what was going on

Also, what the hell is the deal with kids' obsession these days with those Stanley mugs?? Seriously, they're expensive and kids just leave the damn things every where and lose them anyway.
Stanley hired the exec that made crocs famous. Doing some fancy marketing and paying certain people to use the product can make any product big nowadays.

My oldest started middle school today. **** it goes fast.

My oldest started 7th and my middle started kindergarten.

My wife was a mess this morning. The kindergartener is her "first born" as the oldest is her stepson. She quit her job when the middle one was born, so he has been home every day outside of preschool for the last 5 years.

One neat thing in our neighborhood is a few block away from us at a 4 way stop in the neighborhood 2 ladies sit on the corner with a sign in the yard that says something like "Have a great 1st day of school. We are retired teachers." They sit and wave at everyone as they pass by or great them as they walk.

Moving my kid in to dorms today (soph year). Will be attending Law school after undergrad.

I hosted a back to school ice cream party last night for the neighborhood kids. Moms loved the boozy root beer floats.

Where was our invite?!? Dads need boozy floats, too.

10th grader & 3rd grader here - happy to have a quiet WFH space after they've been home the past week.
