***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

Bored this afternoon, watching a weather channel. They have a segment on about a minor league team in the Blue Jays farm teams. They have a rain delay jersey, it looks like nasty radar. Kinda cool.

Not quite the 90 degree day they predicted where I’m at along hwy 20
It's 90 degrees in Ankeny right now with a heat index of 104, and we're lucky we had so much cloud cover with a nice breeze today. It would be brutal without that.

Fortunate to get 1.15 rain (with a WU prediction of .03) ahead of the predicted heat event, Should be beneficial in that crops/plants can draw moisture from a deeper/cooler area of their root system where the fluctuations in temps will be more moderate than at the surface. Above 85 degrees plants' respiration and transpiration slow down so require less moisture than at temps below that, but any rain is welcome to add to reserves that will be needed as temps return to the more ideal growing range

I appreciate the wind for temperature control, but it really does a number on my outdoor plants that are already hurting for moisture.
