***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

Looks like Ames and the metro are getting zero rain tonight. Think it’s been 20 days without a drop of rain after getting like 8 inches in 3 weeks in April.

I was walking out of Fareway last night when the hail opened up. That was fun. Tried to upload a video, but it wont load. Marble sized. Have a nice bruise on my back. Hail was piled up in the middle of road and rain water rushing down the sides.

Not quite a half inch of rain last night. Came down over an hour period of time. Hope to see more if it happens like that.

Waukee here, ended up with a half inch and we lost power for about 3 hours overnight. Didn't hear hail though.

South of Waterloo. Almost enough rain to wet the patio here. In a pocket here where we haven't had anything measurable in 3+ ? weeks. Weather Underground went from 100% chance of 1.25 @ 7:00 to 58% chance of 0.04 @ 1:00 AM. Plenty of lightning. My hope is that the storms predicted to redevelop this afternoon/evening don't contain too much lightning so as to make it dangerous while I'm out watering my garden. :) :)
Farmers in the area disappointed--some of the early planted could use a shower to help finish emergence and the later seeds are sitting in dry dirt

Half inch outside Nevada last night. I had 1.28 on April 23rd and 0.02 on April 26th and nothing since. Was nice to finally break that.

We had about half an inch maybe a little more in North Ames, started around 11:30, grass sure needed the rain. Lots of lighting and thunder but little wind.

Tomorrow looks super fun, too, in addition to Monday.
