I never thought I'd see a point guard at Iowa State that could totally control a game like Monte could. But Tamin came along with an even greater offensive presence. We've been blessed with some great point guards starting with Gary Thompson.
For sure, I'd rather face Virginia than Tennessee. The Cyclones could beat either but I like the Virginia matchup better, I feel like they're overseeded at 3.
North Carolina has also missed last 4 Elite Eights. This would be the longest streak of all 3 missing the Elite Eight.
Yes, and I don’t know your friend and you seem like a hell of a dude… But in my opinion that is just absolutely ignorant and I’ve been on enough boards, including this one to see fans whine, and ***** and throw a fit about great coaches. Every year at some point in time fans have thrown a fit about MATT Campbell and various coaches Iowa State has had.
You name the coach, Tom Izzo, Sampson, Matt painter… Someone in their fan base has wanted them fired
I think self is done coaching when he is done at KU. Probably no reason to step down and give up cash.
Feel like people should look at maybe it is donor interference that is causing issues. Interesting that some of the biggest NIL spenders continue to struggle.
I don't think they have nearly the talent advantage as they did pre NIL. I actually think this season was one of Self's better coaching jobs.
Meh….St John’s has had it rolling at the end of the season after having their own struggles early. Fans have a tendency to think everything stays static. It isn’t, you have a different team day today.
This seems to be the issue to me. It sounds like he doesn't have full control over who's on the roster or maybe even on playing time, which is bizarre for a coach of his tenure and stature.
The biggest issue he has is that Kansas is not spending their money wisely. He thinks that Self doesn't know how to actually build a team with NIL. If KU fans had not had the history before that, they might see it differently, but they are used to Final Fours, not 2nd Round exits.
