***Official 2026 NCAA Tournament Thread***

I had Wisconsin in the sweet 16 in a couple pools but that's my only real blemish as of today. I still feel like the 1'2 and 2's are just so strong and the Elite 8 is gonna be real chalky.
My buddy who happens to be an Iowa fan ridiculed my pick of Wisconsin. Says they always choke early in the tournament. While he's not wrong, I couldn't help but feeling extreme vitriol and contempt for his judgement.

Gard is an odd case. He has had ok success there but has been very unimpressive in the tournament setting. They get pretty decent talent too, being the only big dog school in their state for the most part. Not sure how much more goodwill he has left.

They don't really choke, they just don't defend very well.

They definitely don't defend. I also heard some stat that they are something like 1-5 now all time as a 5 seed, which means they've obviously lost to a 12 seed 4 of those times. Not great!

If I was a Wisconsin fan I would want Gard gone. First off very little tourny success. Second you can't keep allowing Iowa State to keep getting the best players out of your state. I mean I get if a kid choses Duke or UNC or Kentucky over Wisconsin. How can they justify Iowa State taking your best players. I would be furious. Same thing if Wisconsin was taking the best players in Iowa and we kept wiffing on them.

No. They are 1-5 against #12 in the first round as a #5. The year they won against a #12 in the first round as a #5, they lost to Kentucky in the Sweet 16. So, they are 2-6 overall as a #5.

Yes I’m looking ahead, as a fan I’m allowed. Who’s a tougher matchup for us in the round of 32?
I think Kentucky would be harder. I think Santa Clara would have to play at a higher level than Kentucky would to beat us. I saw St. Mary's get man handled by A&M yesterday. As a fan, hate saying this, but I think we want Santa Clara to shoot lights out today and beat Kentucky.

Thank you, I was 50/50 on whether I heard that wrong or not
