I don't recall ever seeing a dew point in the 80s.

The air temperature at that time was 93°F, resulting in a heat index of 141°F. Another high dew point reading of 90°F was recorded in Clarion, Iowa, on July 28, 2021, at 2:15 p.m. Central time, with a corresponding air temperature of 90°F and a heat index of 132°F.
A dew point of 84 might be a record though. Definitely the air temp overall hasn’t been bad this summer.
Even Methuselah couldn't use "ever" and he is said to have lived over 900 years.
110 apparent temp. is common this time of year in the corn belt with the crops maturing. Only during dry years is it not an issue.
It will be interesting to see what YTD rainfall totals are at the end of the month for the state. I think most would say its been a wetter than normal year, but through June we were still below normal for average annual precipitation. We've been dry for so long I think people forget what normal precipitation looks like in Iowa.
This would indicate that there are wet areas and there are still dry areas on the fringes.
This would have been a good year to invest in Gold Bond powder stock.
Gave up on powder years ago and switched to cream. Less mess, same effectiveness.
I got 2.5 inches in WDM in 30 min. Street flooding and that’s the first I’ve seen that here in 9 years on this house. So much water and nowhere to go. My sump pump barely kept up for a long and stressful hour after it stopped.
It seems like there is no "normal" weather in Iowa. We go from heat index to wind chill and from flood to drought in a matter of a couple of days.
The yearly average may look normal, but the extremes at both ends of the spectrum throughout the year makes those yearly averages look normal.
We live in such a horrible state for weather. We get both extremes.

I’ll have to ask my Dad if it’s as bad as it was 60 years ago. Wednesday is my birthday. Every year my parents always tell me how horribly hot it was the day I was born. The only room in the hospital with AC back then (1965) was the OR room and rather than make my Dad sit out in the hot waiting room, they let him stay in the OR room during labor and delivery. He was the first one to hold me.
Keep in mind this was back when Dads were kept in the waiting rooms and never allowed in the room during delivery.
Fast forward three years later when my sister was born. My Dad fully expected to be in the room again and they told him no, he was to sit in the waiting room. He argued enough they finally consented to him standing at the OR door and looking through the window.
Yet I love it. I’m always looking forward to the next season. There’s even things I like about winter here.
Nope. The AWOS sensors are notorious for bad data during extremely humid days. Don't trust a Philly TV meteorologist in this case.
