I'm trying to remember the last time we had a big snowfall like this in November. It feels like it's been a long time.

Hell, 1ft snowfalls aren't all that common even in snowier months

Feels like every winter these days is bone dry until mid to late January, then we cram the entire winter's worth of weather into about 6 weeks.

I remember in 2009 we got like a foot of snow in central Iowa the first week of December and most of that winter we had snow pack. Hope we don't get a repeat of that because it sucked. I had so much snow on my roof I was thinking about getting a snow rake.

Honestly I prefer that. Get winter over with in a short, awful burst

Okay @MNCYWX thoughts on the quality of travel from CR-DSM and back tomorrow evening/night for Disney On Ice. I am leaning towards cancelling our trip.

Any snow clearing companies up in Johnston that would do a driveway on short notice. Looks like I won't be able to head back until after all the snow.

You could try this person who put a sign in my yard.

That should be fine. Ops wise the first few are easy it is when you can’t keep up anymore that things unravel quick.

Sounds like snow isn't supposed to begin in Des Moines until after dark tomorrow, so she should be fine.

Yeah, she was just worried because she has to work Saturday.

The nice thing is there is now a direct flight from DM to LA.

Oh that's a tough one. May come down to how adventurous you are. Up is fine, down is the wildcard. Definitely not into the worst of it yet, but it won't be perfect either. So much of that question comes down to driver ability.

So with the 8-12" forecasts out there it'd be within the range for this to be the most in at least 50 years. Crazy.

I know snow games have happened before, but if there's a foot of snow it might be hard to hold it.
