Interesting. I just read the game thread and apparently OSU is having mechanical issues on their plane.
You’re telling me the pilot can’t just be like “**** it, I read on Cf the road from DSM to Ames is fine, buckle up prepare for departure we’re #1 in line!”?

As a former air traffic controller, that’s not it. Air traffic is handled first-come first-served, you don’t get priority if you’re an air carrier compared to a charter.
That said, who knows why they keep pushing back departure … mechanical issues, problems with getting fueled, issues with the flight plan or the crew, could be anything.
It's going to take a plane crashing in bad weather or something getting killed in a stadium by a lightning strike for people to realize how insignificant this all is.
Having said that, I do chuckle a bit at the idea most seem to have that it's simply impossible to make contingency plans because these events are just so logistically challenging. It's severe weather, not some black swan nobody can see coming. It comes up a handful of times every year.
Stop complaining about the weather and go spend your fellow users money!
