Almost 3 inches in NE Iowa…. And counting. Huge flakes. Sleet.

What in the actual ****.

"Early Sunday could be a snowy mess here in the metro," paraphrasing Jason Parkin at 10 last night.

Reality: Not one flake, but .73" of rain so far in this Ankeny gauge. I'll take it.

Currently raining in north Ankeny, and we had a big ol' thunder clap around 5 minutes ago.
Didn’t hear any thunder this morning but rained for about 4 hours straight. Sump pump has been running quite a bit today.

Left the gauge out 1.4 inches of mixed precip so far. It will help. Roads were tricky in spots coming back from MN. 3 semis and one big tour bus all in ditches all upright I'm thinking the wind helped them, it was strong. All were in the ditch the direction the wind would have pushed them.

I don't know how much we got total in the Madison area but it's been a good soaker type of rain the last 15ish hours and is hopefully going to continue today.

I winter sowed a bunch of flowers and put the jugs in a kiddie pool Saturday. Decided to chance it with how dry it's been that no drainage holes will be ok. Welp, gotta try and dump that today.

Rained enough that I heard the sump pump kick on. Been raining non stop for two days and finally quit this morning when the ice and snow hit.

Yeah that was quite the storm! I’m in the CR area for a wedding and that woke my wife and I up around 2 am. Almost sounded like some small hail too with the heavy rain
Yeah we had pea size hail, saw some pictures of golf ball size up in Center Point.

interested to see if this system busts like last week in terms of tornado potential. Tomorrow is already dropping but Tuesday still holding strong.
