In CR, that's what's concerning to me. Friday, CR was right on the edge and one of the tornadoes came within 10 miles of the southside of the city and me. This time the high risk is further north.

To be fair, tornadic activity passed on both sides of Cedar Rapids Friday. The most severe stuff, of course, went through Coralville and Hills and on northeast to Bellevue, but there were tornadoes around Vinton, too, with those cells passing to the north. CR still got plenty of damaging wind, but mainly got lucky as far as tornado paths go - I don’t think it had much to do with being on the edge of the extreme risk area.
Which only means, naturally, will our luck hold out Tuesday night, or will it be our turn in the barrel?
I hate it when that happens.

Looks like it’s shifted west some tbh. Which puts Des Moines in the bad area.
We received our first estimate for the storm damage from Friday. Up to 25,000 in damages! We are located in West Ames(sunset ridge). All of our aluminum cladding/gutters on the southern exposer(street side), one of our outdoor lights. a bunch of cracked siding, some minor roof damage, several of our roof vents are cracked/leaking. I hope the next round of stuff doesn't cause a bunch more. I think we will be upgrading what we can to be more storm resilient. Bye Bye plastic roof vents. We had quarter sized hail, but I have never seen so much of it.

Waiting on my estimate in West Ames also - Did your estimate include siding replacement for the entire side of the house, or just individual broken pieces? Depending on age of siding, I've been hearing some of both.

$35k at my place in north Ames - includes new roof (16 y.o.), gutters and garage doors, a few windows and south-facing siding.
I hate that big crease right through Wichita.
