NFL: **** Official 2023 NFL Draft Thread ****

I’ve liked the Packers draft so far. They’re gonna be super young on offense but I’m excited for something new
Yeah I am too. I felt like what we saw of Love last year, he had finally improved significantly and wondered if the return of Tom Clements as QB coach was part of it. I think Clements has stayed even with the Rodgers trade but not sure. Kind of hoping they grab X, would like to still have a Cyclone on the Packers.

I have no idea what they got for some of the picks they traded yesterday.

The Packers got a fifth round pick from the Lions and a sixth round pick from the Bucs, dropping from 45 to 48 to 50.

I thought they would jump on the Alabama Safety, Brian Branch, but they obviously didn’t like something there! With Adrian Amos a FA and Darnell Savage a bust, we could use somebody in center field!

I’ve seen ISU’s Anthony Johnson mentioned, which doesn’t excite me. He’s not a ball hawk and my recollection is he gives up a high completion percentage before reliably making the tackle! Anybody have other thoughts on AJ?

I think Anthony played years at corner for us when he should have been at safety, but we didn’t have anyone better at corner. So he did what was best for our team. When we got better corners, he moved to his better position, safety, and was great last year and finally had a chance to show his talents. He lacked speed to be elite at corner, but shined at safety.

Whoever the Hawk player people are comparing him to I think is a corner.

I don't get Green Bay's draft

Agree. It's hard being a Packers fan every year during the draft.... they have no idea what they're doing.

This year they demand a 2nd rd pick from the Jets... and they get it.... and trade it away for a 5th rd pick? Wut?

And then their next pick they trade it to a division rival... who in turn takes the best safety in the draft which GB desperately needed.

So the Packers will have a ton of picks today in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds... when all of the good talent is gone. Could have had the best safety in the draft, and now will end up taking an average one.

As far as their picks so far... Van Ness is a solid, reliable pick, but nothing special. I'd give that a B+ grade. Musgrave was injured with a knee basically all of last year... so who knows if he'll ever be quite 100% healthy again? Don't like that pick. C. Jayden Reed was a reach also, but looks explosive and can also be the return guy in the kicking game. B. Then Kraft.... I actually like him better than Musgrave, so not a bad pick, but why a second TE already? Do you not trust Musgrave?

I wanted to see them get an OL by now, and maybe a safety too. I wouldn't mind the Anthony Johnson from A&M today, but not the Anthony Johnson from ISU. As an ISU fan I hate to say this, but Anthony Johnson doesn't do it for me. Gets burned deep WAY too often.

1. The 45th pick turned into the 50th and two later round picks after a trade with the lions and buccaneers. They didn’t trade a 2nd round pick for a 5th round pick lol.

2. We lost Lewis and Tonyan. Needed two tight ends. Kraft and Musgrave are both elite athletes at the tight end position. Musgrave had the MCL injury (which is easier to come back from than ACL) He rehabbed and performed great at the senior bowl and combine.

3. Saying all the talent is gone in the later rounds is stupid. Later rounds guys play a ton.

I think their picks have been spot on rounds 1-4. Expect to see some trading up or dealing current pick for a 2024 pick in a higher round.

Love the Rams taking Stetson Bennett. Could be the Purdy of this draft.

I think they like Nixon there.
