Several people in Parkersburg died in their basements. F5 though.

:( The aftermath of that tornado is forever etched in my memory. We know some people from there - thankfully they were not injured. My youngest son helped with some of the cleanup.

We've had quite a few conversations since that tornado. A lot are centered around our retirement years and what we are determined to have for a house. All one level, handicap accessible and a tornado shelter within designed to withstand 250 mph winds.

I've reach the annoyed part of winter in Iowa...

It’s annoying but I sort of prefer March snow to January snow. It doesn’t last as long. The fact that the snow is out for more hours per day helps. In general, the roads get cleared faster.

The weather models have move this storm south, by a lot. The GFS shows maybe a dusting to an inch of snow in Des Moines. 3-4 inches of snow in KC. The EURO model has Des Moines getting a dusting of snow, and has KC getting 5-6 inches of snow. The National Weather Service has Des Moines getting about an inch (Decreasing the total with every update). The NWS has KC getting 5-6 inches of snow, starting early Thursday morning, and lasting until late Thursday night. Good news, much warmer temperatures by Sunday.

I’m so disappointed. I have a meeting in Iowa City tomorrow that I do not want to drive over for. The snow was going to give me an excuse to miss it. Now I got nothin…
