Grad Transfer or sit one play one?

He's listed as a sit out transfer. He started at Mizzou, so he'll lose a year of eligibility.

Further research: He started at Mizzou, then played a year of JUCO, then transferred to Fresno St. He also sat out the last 14 games last year, for what the university called "undisclosed medical issues," but they said it was not an injury.

Then there's this: http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/college/mountain-west/fresno-state/article73389102.html

"On Jan. 28, Fresno State police cited Jones for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, an infraction. Jones’ attorney, Stephanie Negin, identified the controlled substance as Xanax.
The charges were filed Feb. 23.
Jones was due to be arraigned Tuesday, but the hearing was postponed until May 19 as Jones seeks treatment at the Valley Recovery Center of California in Fresno, according to Fresno County court records."

He was dismissed from the team April 22nd.

It is fun to speculate and grab names off the list but unless there is a connection it is difficult to get these transfers attention. I have no doubt we'll start to hear ISU associated with a few high end transfers and possibly Antetokounmpo and Romello White due to the staff having recruited them recently.
Prohm should be patient and get the right fit too, worst case he can hold the scholarship for a high end mid season transfer too.

Dismissed from his 2nd school and was arrested in January for possession of weed and Xanax

Probably not someone Prohm has in mind for the program.

Agreed. Definitely worried a little after this year

I wouldn't be. We will still have Jackson at point with Babb and J. Long. I am sure the staff will secure a transfer guard and a fairly guard heavy class. Will be a down year overall anyway though.

Agree and we'll know a lot more after this year. If Jackson and Babb make a big impact this year, then I'm more optimistic for next year.

We also can't really afford for guys like Carter, Jakolby and Young to be misses. Those guys need to be good.

I said that last year.

With the way transfers are these days, ISU should be able to keep reloading. Especially if the team can make another Sweet 16 run for the 3rd time in 4 years.

We are losing a lot after the '16-'17 season, so it would be nice to get a transfer/JUCO or two who could come in and contribute right away for the season after. Assuming the current players pan out to be quality, we will have a decent returning squad with Jackson, Long, Babb, Young, Carter and Lard.

Its still very early, but I'm not too worried about the future of the program. The staff has been recruiting several quality HS players for that class too, so land a few of those and couple transfers/JUCO players to even out the classes and we're good to go.

Difference being Naz and Monte weren't expected to be back and we don't have 2 other guys like them as of yet. I'm not worried but those 2 change expectations a lot for next year.

It's also easier than ever to make it to the tournament. Every season, we talk about how bad the bubble is. That's how it's going to be from here on out, so finishing in the middle of the Big 12 standings should get us comfortably in, and as we saw this season, it an even get us a good seed.

Agree, but last year is probably not a good example. It was an odd year in college basketball, and if you look at last season compared to others, we were lucky to get a 4 seed. Yes the team had some great wins, and played a tough schedule, but there is no doubt that the preseason hype kept us toward the top.

There will be a number of question marks for 2017/18. One positive of Malou going to the NBA, there may be more minutes next year for Carter, Young and Lard. Malou was probably going to play 25-30mpg. Bowie and Burton will probably get most of those minutes, but there may be 10-15mpg for Carter, Young or Lard.

That and the Big 12 being so dominant. Past few years perception will help people think Big 12 is better than it is this coming season.

Agreed, we were lucky. But a 6-9 seed should be baseline expectation going forward. If you don't make the tournament, you had a really bad year.
