MLB: ***OFFICIAL 2014 MLB Postseason Thread***

...also- my 90 yo grandpa has listened to the royals on local radio for whilst napping and whatnot for 30 years without much to show for it. I'm so glad ownership stopped selling off the pieces to a postseason. KC!

Selling one of those pieces (Greinke) got Cain, Escobar, and Odorizzi (who they used to help get Shields and Wade Davis). Pretty crazy.

I can't believe this.

Somebody needs to take Salvador Perez aside this offseason and tell him he needs to have a ******* clue at the plate or he's going to be spending some time in Omaha next year. His ABs are ridiculous at this point.

It's like watching Cerrano hit in the movie Major League. Just toss a breaking ball up there and Perez looks like an amateur. Dude needs to devote some major time to the batting cages this off season.

This is freaking amazing. I still cannot believe that the ROYALS are up 3-0 in the ALCS, one win from the World Series. Ever crazier, I don't think that any Royals starters have had a good game in a long time. Guthrie only allowed the one run but didn't seem to have amazing stuff. Shields has been meh. Ventura was rocky. This bullpen has been absolutely incredible, the pure volume of amazing plays in the field have been insane and it seems like KC always manages to get just what they need at the plate. It honestly seems like they have missed out on many opportunities to do even more damage at the plate and they have still won 7 straight. Incredible. I wasn't sure I'd see KC relevant in the postseason again.

Just to make sure it is clear. Royals are not in Kansas. I had to tell that to a Giants fan today. He also thought Chiefs were in Kansas.

To be fair, most west coasters don't know the first thing (nor do they care) about anything east of the Sierras. That type of stuff seems pretty obvious to me, but not everyone knows there are two Kansas Citys, either. It just goes with the territory - if it's not in your backyard, the chances of you being even modestly familiar with another region drops substantially.

Yeah but if the poll was of Missouri citizens the Royals fan percentage would have went from 4% to 8%.

For the record I'm definitely pulling for KC in the ALCS.

But really....why is there a Kansas City in Missouri? I mean that's just asking for confusion

The problem is that the derps in Kansas couldn't come up with a unique name.

Right, Kansas City was originally named "Kansas" until the geniuses to the west copied the name. So they renamed the city "Kansas City" in an attempt to distinguish it from the Kansas territory.
