OK. I'll probably get zinged for this one, but I have to post it anyway.
I never thought pukeye fans were upset with Alford due to not winning the games in the tournament. He had a decent W/L record during his time there. I think most pukeye fans were ticked at the way he could not fire up the fanbase and how he split the fanbase over the Pierre Pierce fiasco. After his unrelenting support of PP, the attendence plumented and many fans wanted nothing to do with SA. As much as I hate to say this, I think the pukeye nation is looking for a fresh face that they can all rally around. Someone that acts with honesty and integrity and doesn't blindly accept everything that his players say as gospel. They want a leader and a disciplinarian. They want someone that brings is Iowa humble - takes some blame and praises his kids when they do good. They want anyone that is not named Steve Alford.
I would be surprised if the pukeyes bash this guy if he doesn't put up immediate wins. If he treats his team and fanbase with respect and honesty, then he will be embraced at eiu. They want someone they can trust and respect first (Ferentz) and the wins will come.
