@franfraschilla: BREAKING: Iowa State has landed 7-1 skilled lefty Giorgos Tsalmpouris, from Greece. Will come over this summer. Nice prospect.

Looks quick which is great news for a guy that incredibly tall.

He can shoot, but his shot is very slow so I wouldn't expect many jump shots early in his career. He does have the touch though so he could eventually have success jumpshooting.

Looks like a project with an extremely high amount of upside. He's only 17 as of four days ago.

Well that was unexpected. Does anyone know if he is ready for the collegiate level immediately or if he is more of a project?

@franfraschilla: Iowa State's Greek recruit, Tsamouris, is thin but skilled. Had a lot of schools on him late. Was pursued by major Greek clubs, as well.

You've got to question the competition he is going against.. most of those guys don't look like they could compete in D-League Intramurals! I like his size.. definitely will be having to redshirt the upcoming season though.

Re: New foreign commit

I'm not a basketball expert but my advice for the teams playing against him in his highlight video: You might want to guard the seven footer standing underneath the hoop.

Really excited to to have this kid. Looks like he might be a bit of a project but could be special someday in Fred's system.

Why? I doubt he turned down money to play in Greece so he could redshirt.

Someone must have put some hallucinagins in my iced coffee this morning. . . Guess I will just ride the trip. . .

He weighs maybe 200lbs at 7'1" is why. And I think a lot of Greeks would be willing to leave Greece (horrible horrible economic country) to get an American education which is worth more than he would make playing basketball in Greece anyday.

Besides this guy being Greek instead of Serbian, Fred has come through on pretty much every promise from his opening press conference.

EDIT: A-Town beat me to it.
