New Basketball Assistant Coach

Like this hire a lot. Green would have been good as well, but things would be complicated with his kid.

Just skimming recent articles, it looks like Coach Kane was focused on recruiting transfers to Dayton, as they lost 4 players to transfer themselves. Coach Kane appeared to be involved with recruiting and signing 2 players:

Jhery Matos, a 6’-6” Jr G (Juco). This article says that Kane knew Matos’ AAU Coach.

Rodney Chatman is a 6’-1” PG transfer from Chattanooga.

Edit: not saying we are pursuing these kids, just pointing out some recruits that may give some insight to his potential recruiting areas and connections.

More importantly..Kane was at Murray with Prohm and has ties to KY near TyTy who we need to land IMO..Love the hire..With D Rob hitting Chi Town and Kane appears to be stud recruiter and great at player development and relationships..

Players James Kane was the lead recruiter on.

Looks like most his success is in Florida and Tenn. Good areas to mine talent (cough Anderson) but I was hoping to see some players from the Midwest too. The optimistic part of me wants to assume that he has used his time in Dayton to get connections in Ohio/Michigan/Wisconsin/Minn to help there too.

This is from a Dayton message board about Kane

"All that said, losing Kane does hurt. He’s a rockstar recruiter and also a strong coach. I think he’s going to be a very successful head coach. And I think that could happen in the next 3-4 years. So it wasn’t going to be at Dayton because I think Grant’s here till he retires or is fired and I think he’s going to be given plenty of time to prove himself. Like 5 years at the very least."

Who is TyTy?

Seems like he's at least at Barry's level as an assistant. All in all a good off-season, even if there were a few scares along the way. Fingers crossed things stay calm until we get to the season.

He’s been at Dayton for a whole year. The rest of his career has been in the south. He went to U of Florida and the majority of his coaching career was at Murray State. Why would you expect he has connections in Minn/Wisc of all places?
