New Arrowhead?

Kansas has been growing broke for years. Maybe the people should care about the money? Also, you have no idea if that money will be there in bonds, it's all predicated off predicted revenue. One thing seems to be true, any money generated from the Chiefs will go right back to the Chiefs. Kansas gets little to nothing from this other then the ability to pat themselves on the back.
I don't disagree when it comes to the state as a whole. JoCo is the exception. Its one of the wealthiest counties in America. There is quite a bit of money in Wichita also.

I agree. I'm a MO guy in terms of the MO/KS rivalry but the KS side isn't afraid to invest.
Missouri isn't afraid either. It's just a different system in Missouri that was set up over 200 years ago that gave the people a lot of power on how the government is run. When people have to vote on so much, it becomes much more difficult to get bigger projects done.

But again, if there is no KCMO, Johnson County is not even close to being as wealthy as it is today. Likewise, the KC metro is not as great without Johnson County. The KC region is awesome, and both sides get credit for that.

The amount of cope that the Missouri defenders are throwing down is reaching epic proportions.

Jackson County residents will never see a decrease in taxes, sure they won't see their property values increase as much as JoCo and Dotte residents, but any return on their amazing non-investment will never happen.

Property values outside of the immediate areas will see no impact by this move.

Anecdotal, and market timing is obviously a big factor. I sold my house in Jackson County in 2022 for 53% more than I bought it for in 2019. ~40% actual net after taking out the work I did to it. Not to mention the condo I should have bought in 2017, was renting, they decided to sell and offered it to me for $165k. It sold for $300k 2 years ago.

It's a bad argument. Property values in newer areas in Lees Summit, Blue Springs, and Liberty are increasing just as much as OP, Olathe, etc. The metro as a whole is seeing the same property value increases. It's the older areas, which includes areas in KCK, that don't see as much of an increase in value. Those older areas of KCK are not going to see values go up because of this move by the Chiefs, and Lees Summit won't see smaller increases in property values because of this move.

He is correct about Missouri being a dump.
I have lived on both sides. Lived in OP at 143rd/Nall area and now in Lees Summit near Blue Springs lake. For me, the Missouri side is so much better.

KCMO has dumpy areas, but so does KCK. The difference is KCK can expand into new areas to the west, while KCMO is landlocked. However, the suburban areas in Missouri are just as nice as the Kansas side. The JoCo areas are just much newer.

I lived in Shawnee for a while and loved the town, but I thought everywhere else in JoCo was pretty snobby. Kansas is a little to churchy for my taste. They don't even allow medical marijuana ffs. I don't drink but no alcohol on certain holidays etc..

What do you get out of the team moving a little closer to you, other than some Missouri vs. Kansas **** measuring contest?

Its certainly a place where the most people care about their own municipality and surroundings more than the state as a whole. That's a lot of places though. Having lived in greater PHX before I can tell you nobody there gives a **** about anything outside of the street they live on. Iowa is somewhat unique in that a lot of people still care about the state as a whole.

@BryceC and @chuckd4735 are right. It looks like everybody won in this scenario. MO dodged a bullet with the finances and KS will have to deal with an NFL team for the next 3 decades.

And I don't even live there anymore.
I'm just sick of listening to the people who voted no crying about the team leaving. And there is a lot of that going on. Didn't private bonds pay for the new airport terminal? Hard to imagine anyone on the Missouri side spending a cent on improvements.
