I'm looking at buying a new tv in the near future. Looking at spending less than $1,000. I want to get the biggest screen, but also want a clear picture. Not sure what the best way to go is and I know some people here have been buying tv's lately. What does anyone think about this one here?

That is a cabinet style TV so you need to have room for it because its a pretty big TV. A lot of people are going w/ the flat pannel Plama or LCD TVs that are very thin and can even be hung on a wall but they can cost more and if you have room for a cabinet TV there are no problem w/ those.

Also, if it matters, that is not a High Definition TV. It can recieve the HD signals and channels but will only display them in SD or standard definition. If you want HD you can usually find a similar TV but with HD ability for similar or lower price than that one. Walmart actually has some decent HD TVs for under $1000 Also if you do want HD I would make sure it has a built in HD tuner so you can recieve the over-the-air HD channels. Unless you are going to plug it into an HD cable or satelitte box, then it doesn't matter.

I got my TV (52 inches with HD capability) from Wal-Mart last year for like $850, so I would think you could find one at least that cheap now. It's the bigger cabinet style one like rooster was saying, but it works for our living room and has a nice picture. I wouldn't do it any other way if you have the space...that saves you a LOT of money! It would be nice to have the HD built in, but with our deal with Mediacom we get the box and everything really cheap anyway so it's not a big deal for us. If I was going to do it over I would consider it.

I have that exact TV except a model older. I got it after I graduated...so I've had it for about 2 1/2 years now. It's been a great TV. I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

And yes, it takes up a lot of room but all rear projection TVs will. The one I bought doesn't have a built-in HD tuner so if that is important to you, you'll want to check the specs to see if that one does.

The big question is how big do you want to go? 32", that should be no problem to stay under a grand. 37" might be a little over $1000. Bigger? Stay away from anything bigger in that price range, you will not be happy with the pic quality.

Do you want HD? I would never buy a TV anymore without HD, it is just so amazing when you finally get it setup.

I can help you find a nice tv if you can get me an idea of size.
