It's a high C (I used to sing that part in high school). There was a little bit of disagreement on the actual pitch...but considering the circumstances...

Put me down in the more traditional crowd. I hate when people overcook the anthem. HOWEVER...
even the most traditional views generally still really like what Jimmy Hendrix and Whitney did. You know why? Because they are (sadly, were) transcendent geniuses in their art. Keep your eye out for another one, they happen every generation or so.

I offered my observations of the historical value of a minimal common, unifying identity and the current fashionable group think. Ugh. This entire site--and I feel boards/social media everywhere-- is like dealing with a plurality of people who are conditioned to the point of being comatose. You feeling me? I am thankful for those who aren't boring.

On the "free", it sounded like someone (or a couple someones) tried to go diva and went up another fifth. Yeah, it's fun to show off how high you can go, but it needs to sound planned, and have enough people do it or it just sounds like a couple people are way off the pitch.
What I'm "feeling" is that you are ranting against something you are participating in...
If social media and message boards are so mind-numbingly routine, why do you bother to join in? If you voluntarily participate, you don't get to play the "I hate dealing with all of you" card.
Speaking of National Anthems.......Watching X-games--I mean Olympics--now. Spiccoli is on the podium during a classic rendition of the national anthem..........bizarro. He looks like James Franco at the Academy awards. Did he ever think...gee, I might win a gold and when they play the national anthem do I: a) stand solemnly and reverently b) sing my nation's anthem with pride or c) mumble occiasionally like the kid in the 3rd grade "winter" concert who wasn't paying attention and failed to learn the words to Winter Wonderland. So wierd.
