"She was pronounced dead by paramedics even though she was still alive. A 20-year old Southfield woman was reportedly discovered still breathing at a funeral home."

From the article I saw:

"They performed CPR and tried to revive her. But, after 30 minutes, they concluded she likely was no longer alive."

We really need to break down our medical procedures to start with basics...like knowing how to tell if someone's dead.

Seems like Day 1 stuff... Maybe someone didn't honor syllabus day and actually taught on the first day.

And when we get that nailed down we can move on to pandemics.

I always loved on the old SNL Chris Farley Show when he asks Paul McCartney if it was just a hoax that he died and Paul answers "No, I wasn't really dead."

All jokes aside, i'd be curious on what her actual condition is. Have to imagine if she wasnt breathing for that long there could be some significant brain damage, even if she is 'alive'.

They must have updated the story because it doesn't say that anymore.

Reminds me of a motivational speaker at one of the 4-H conferences in Ames. Was a guy who in highschool made a bad decision after a night of drinking.
The story was he and his friend were both pretty wasted and decided to try and drive home. Said between the two of them they had the combined cognitive ability of one person. They were driving on the wrong side of the road and met an oncoming vehicle. They ended up driving off an overpass and his buddy was killed and they thought he was dead too until he moaned as the mortician made the incision to drain his blood.
