Monte and Tyrese teammates

Hope ISU doesn’t lose to Iowa while Purdy and Kittle are both still there—paybacks may be hell.
Purdy lost the first bet after the 2023 game and had to wear a Herky helmet head to practice. Last year Kittle had to wear Purdy's I-State helmet.

Does this mean that Monte is just there while Tyrese recovers? In other words, when Tyrese recovers, will it bump Monte out? The NBA is a cruel ecosystem.

I think Monte is just happy for opportunities at this point in his career. I think injuries have taken a toll on him.

Tyrese is not a ball dominate PG which is very unique in today's NBA. I assume the plan is to move Nembhard to PG this year, but he doesn't play the point like Tyrese. He is much more ball dominate. Sharing the ball is what made the Pacers successful last year. Monte is more like Tyrese in that he is a pass first type PG. He might be insurance in case the Nembhard move to PG doesn't work. He is likely the third PG on the team going into the season. That's my guess.

Everything I have read is the Pacers do not plan on having Tyrese available this entire season, so signing Monte is his one year replacement and adding depth to the roster. They owe Tyrese too much money on that contract to risk him pulling it again before he is 100%. Better to be safe and have him at his best, even if it means him not playing this season.
