Interesting story on Milan's signing process with Kentucky

Florida paying Thomas Haugh $10 million next season. That is stupid insane. I'm done watching any college game that Iowa State is not playing in.

$6.5 mil for Milan; $10 mil for Haugh... this is exactly why SEC presidents don't want hard set rules on NIL... because they're fiscally irresponsible enough to just throw money at everybody.

TBH, for the SEC fans - this is already a win for them. They will have 8 months of chest thumping (well, 6 months, 8 weeks into next season the truth will be out that they are still meh) that they can buy anything they want.

It is almost more important to them than actually winning anything.

I am guessing this will get Pope another year or two if he can figure out how to get to Sweet 16 this year - which they might if they don't have to play ISU in round of 32.

But to the posters point - only in the SEC can an overpaid coach, overpay for a player as a way to give them more job security.

Well maybe there and Federal Gov't.

IMHO, I get the sense that Milan has/had a lot of people in his ear telling him what's best for him and who feel entitled to act on his behalf. There were pretty well-sourced rumors of his parents being mad about his role in the 24-25 season and his dad shopping him around during/after the last two seasons. I don't pity a 21-year-old making $6.5 million, but I feel for him and others in similar situations because it puts the kid in a tough spot.

Unless major changes come soon I’m about a year or 2 away from being done with it. I’ll still be in Hilton for every game, but I’ve never cared less about general college athletics than I do right now.

If they don’t make it to the final four, I would wager that Pope is toast.

I still remember Milan’s horrible last game as a Cyclone, and how he seemed like the ISU player that cared the least afterwards that we had lost.

I appreciate everything he did for ISU while he was here…. but I sure felt like after that last game that we’d never see him in an ISU uniform ever again.

I’m not saying I pity him and I honestly could care less now that he’s gone, but I would be pi$$ed as a 21 year old if my parents and agent were doing stuff on my behalf and speaking for me. How many times do you see an athlete’s parent doing a radio show speaking for him? That’s stupid. I see a lot of athletes that have helicopter parents or now agents that act on their own without considering what the kid actually wants which irks me and that’s what my post was referring to.
