May Madness

How about changing college basketball to a 2nd semester sport with the playoffs starting in May. I believe it can do 3 things to improve the sport.

1- Give the student athlete a semester for studies.

2- Better weather as season moves toward May madness.

3- Possible tailgaiting for games in March and April for schools in the north.

I want to be outside in May, so unless you want to play this at JTS, no desire to sit in Hilton when it’s 80 out and 120 inside.

College basketball in November and December does get lost in the shuffle, but it seems like the holiday tournaments do serve a point as teams find themselves.

If you move the season to start in January, I think you’d find teams playing more true road games.

I get your points and they do make sense, but no. Once the weather improves it’s easy to check out of basketball season, look at general lack of fan support for college basketball in the south.

Nope. I like the division of nonconference before Christmas break and conference season after. Gives teams a long stretch to fix issues before conference season starts. There would be no breaks in the season if you started in January.
