I was more concerned with he different playcalljng with the QB's. They wouldn't open up the passing game with Purdy but did with Dekkers. Is there something going on that's keeping Purdy from throwing the ball down field, or is it just stubbornness from the coaches?
Dekkers can make every throw and Purdy can't. He has an NFL arm.

Maybe saying he quit on the team is probably harsh. I wish i could have seen or heard his reactions but it seemed to me like at some point he benched Purdy, Hall, and Hutchinson. But didnt bench McDonald, Rose or Kolar right? That seems very targeted. Ive seen starters benched because they were just off. And ive seen them benched to avoid injury. But this felt more like a message being sent. Like “if you’re not gonna take care of the ball, i will find somone that will” type of message. So the benching didnt strike me as quitting necessarily.

But then when i saw the play calls and the lack of urgency in the 4th quarter, i seriously also started to feel like we gave up. We were very much not out of the game, however we played like we were. It was seriously disappointing. Im still trying to wrap my head around it. But this thread is not way off basis. I think coach has some explaining to do.

When you return 20 of 22 starters with most being seniors, you shouldn’t have to “spark your team”.
Agreed- we shouldn’t have to. However, the starters weren’t getting it done and it forced CMC’s hand. He was trying to see if he couldn’t get anything going with anybody- the exact opposite of a coach that has ‘quit’ on his team.

If some of you didn’t see that as the coaches raising the white flag with a quarter of football left only down by 17 then I don’t know what game you were all watching.
It was absolutely disgusting.
Ive seen a lot of crappy football through the years at ISU. I have never seen anything like I did today.
If I had an employee that pulled that **** on me they’d be in my office first thing in the morning and getting some time off.

And that said employee would take a promotion to the NFL later this year…

Campbell didn’t quit on the team. Our starters on Offense were getting their butts kicked . It was time to give the reserves a shot. He should have cut the power to Manning’s headset as well and gave Scheelhaase a shot.

You’re missing a clue…Campbell didn’t quit. We got beat. Our offense played poorly- we move on.
We don’t take a **** on our coach over one bad game. Shame on fans who bad mouth this team and it’s coaches after one game.

One game? He's lost six straight to Iowa. It's basically a joke now. Corso and Kutcher must be smarter than all of us...

It’s was actually pretty funny the whole game day crew making fun of us about it. You just have to chuckle.

I'm lost like most of you. Something seemed odd/off about the decisions in the 4th quarter. We almost certainly will not get the full story here. Injury, messages sent, white flag, etc any combo thereof...

One possibility not brought up so far is that we had some big recruits here. What message did they get from this? Opportunity will be given if the starters aren't playing their best?
