Lindell Wigginton

Minor thread derailment, but Colorado with 3- 4 star recruits? What have they been up to?
Wasn't Brackins our best recruit in our history ratings wise?
He was a Rivals 5 star, but was significantly lower on ESPN and Scout I believe. I think his aggregate would have been comparable and maybe slightly worse than Wiggington. I think he was only a 90 on ESPN. Not to say he was a bad prospect but he was not universally well thought of.

Way too early starting 5 for 2017-2018, just for fun
My pick for the 4 locks are
Jackson
Wiggington
Babb
Young

5th spot could be any of the following: Kosongo, Lewis, Long, Carter, McNeill. I'll go with Kosongo just for size, but Lewis or Long wouldn't surprise me

Love the thought of Jackson and Wiggington in the same backcourt. That's the combo guard duo that college basketball is trending toward. I'm guessing we still look for the best available transfer who is 6'6" or taller to fill out that lineup. If Lard makes it to campus, he's your fifth. Or Stokes. Hopefully both are in Ames next season.

I am super curious to know what Halsted, Meyer, etc heard and from who that caused them to switch their crystal balls to Oregon only to be proven completely wrong just hours later.

Not sure on all the details, but long story short, daejondavis Davis, a 6'4 combo guard is making his 5th and final visit this weekend to Washington. Oregon is in his final four. The thought was Wigginton was trying to beat Davis to the punch and commit first.

Boyle has always been a SOLID recruiter, but he hasn't always been the best in coaching that talent. Dinwiddie, Roberson, and Burks come to mind. He can bring in 4/5* but they vastly underperform.

Out of curiosity, where did Marcus Fizer place on these lists when he signed? I remember he was a McDonalds All American but don't recall much from his recruitment buzz aside from that.

Jackson
Wigginton
Weiler-Babb
Young
Lard

Bench rotation of...

Long
Lewis
Kasango

...based purely on what we have now.

Lots of talent, but really young and without much experience at that point. Still fun.

PAC-12 basketball is really fast paced, they are on ESPN a ton in the western time zones, the conference is usually loaded with elite talents, and their conference covers a vast swatch of the country that the eastern bball schools don't spend a lot of time in. Plus, have you ever been to Boulder?

Still, the P12 always has the late spots and most of the country never sees them play. Not to mention a lot of their games are on the P12 Network which most people don't get. I'd take the exposure that ISU gets over the P12 any day of the week. That said, for west coast kids, those schools are a great option and the recruiting competition isn't as tough as for a kid from east of the Miss.

What no stokes?!?!? Where's the faith?

They get Stokes and they are officially rolling. Finish the class with 1-2 JUCOs or transfers to fill holes and you have a young but talented roster:

PG: Wigginton
SG: Jackson
SF: Babb
PF: Young
C: Kasongo

Follow that up with a strong 2018 class and we're back competing for the conference title and Sweet 16s.

Add Lard if he makes it!

Lewis compares to Hogue, IMO. It might take him a couple years to build his body to where it needs to be to rebound like Hogue, but I feel he can be a great 3, or play the undersized 4 role eventually.

By the time he's a JR, he should be:

Good on the break
scrappy defensively and on the glass
get some garbage buckets in the half court
and knock down some 3's.

Lewis in no way resembles Hogue to me IMO..Hogue was a pure scrapper who happened to develop a 3pt shot late..Hogue was more athletic although Lewis is as well...Lewis can hit the 3 but has a mid range pull up that is smooth. Lewis is far more refined offensively than Hogue.

I thought his game looked similar to Will Clyburn if we were to compare to a former Cyclone.

Supposing Lindell and Stokes got to be good friends when they were visiting at Iowa State that weekend. Can Lindell visit with Stokes and encourage him to come to ISU? or is that an NCAA violation now that he has committed?

Heck no..LW can recruit Stokes all he wants..

Rankings i dont think didn't start until like 2001? Fizer was definitely Top 20-25..He was a McD AA. I know this will seem like a typical ISU fan..but Stokes game reminds me alot of Fizer. Both are very big and strong..but can run the floor and have great hands and a soft touch around the basket. And both can shoot from outside..I'd actually say Stokes might be better from deep. Im not saying Stokes is the next Fizer but watching his film and remembering Fizer Frosh year they seem very similar. If we land Stokes and he's 70% of Fizer i'll be thrilled.
