Let's root for KSU tonight v OU (Out)!

One thing I’m confident in is that OU is done winning conference titles. Schools like Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and LSU will always have the advantage over OU going forward. Not sure why money is better as a fan than winning conference titles.
I think it's likely that all the Big 8 programs that left the conference:

Nebraska
Colorado
Missouri
Oklahoma

will all be worse-off in terms of actual athletics performance than they were before.

I think Texas and Texas A&M could probably be good no matter what conference they are in just due to money and geography.

Did CU really put themselves at a competitive disadvantage going to the PAC?

They are one of the worst programs probably in FBS right now. They might not win a game this year in football.

I think the Pac-12 football apathy hasn't helped, and I'm not really sure who their recruiting base is anymore. They used to have a little bit more uniqueness in the Big 12 being the "Mountain" team.

It was generally California wasn’t it?

I wish Arkansas would have joined the Big 12 instead of Baylor. The original Big 8 then 12 was still fun though.

Watched the second half last night- so happy to see ou lose decisively and at home.

More upside- ou looked sloppy: several drive-killing penalties, consistently beaten on their D line, inconsistent QB play. This is not the ou team of the recent past. If we play turnover-free football, we’ll beat them when they come to Ames.

ISU has all sorts of issues on their end and right now playing a turnover-free game is a lot to ask.

will all be worse-off...

NU and Colorado are suffering from the combined effects of

1. Losing their ability to recruit in Texas
2. New recruits were not alive the last time they were relevant

Not only is Colorado historically bad, they don't have a viable path to get back to being competitive if they stay in the pac-10.

Missouri is a head scratcher. They have a large state and two metropolitan areas to themselves (geographically speaking), and they should be able to recruit Texas. My conclusion is that they suck do their own incompetence.

That’s 100% right. I’ve seen a lot of our fans griping about officiating Saturday…and yes, we got a couple of bad calls, but it’s not what beat us. Turnovers and penalties at crucial bad times is what beat us, we continue to beat ourselves. Until CMC cleans that up (and I’m a huge CMC fan), we’re a 7 to 9 win team every year.

K-State, on the other hand, played almost perfectly in the 2nd half last night. Very few penalties. Converted into 3rd or 4th down when they needed to and got 6 almost every time they got to the red zone. That’s how you beat the big boys.

I have been around the state of Missouri my whole life and IMO, when you haven’t it appears to be a head scratcher but it actually isn’t. Too much sports competition for Mizzou making it a lower tier fan base. KC is all about Chiefs, then Royals/ KU BB tie for 2nd, then K-State FB…MU barely registers. Used to be in KC that the KU/MU BB rivalry was solidly in 2nd over the Royals when Norm Stewart had a good program and could stay with KU in the B8. The B8 Tourny in KC was huge for MU fans when they beat KU. That all went away when MU went to the SEC. KC could care less about MU now that Mahomes owns the town. St.Louis is Cards Cards Cards & Blues Blues. U of Illinois, SLU Billikens & Mizzou split the rest about evenly. There is a reason why the NFL has bailed twice there. It’s a top financial MLB franchise & the Blues are very successful. And soccer and MLS is a huge presence. I’m not kidding when I state that when it comes to KC & StL that Mizzou rates way down the radar. They made a big mistake going to the SEC because they were competitive and now are Vanderbilt.
