Looking into buying a new mower because it currently takes me 2 hours to mow with my 21" Honda gas mower, have about 15k square feet and some hills/trees to maneuver around. Seems like gas is the only way to go if I want to be able to get everything done in one go, so I've been looking at this Toro and wondered if anyone has one and can give me some feedback? Or if there are other good large deck mowers out there that anyone can recommend I'm open to that too https://www.toro.com/en/product/21219#

I sold all my gas equipment before we moved to Colorado. Have a much smaller yard now, so went with Ego. I can mow three times on a charge. I did have to replace the battery once, but I blame myself because the problems started after I dropped it and hit hit the ground hard. Current battery is four years old. Many of my neighbors also have Ego and have had no issues.

Prior to that, I did have a Toro Personal Pace mower and I loved it.

I bought one of these last spring and wish I had bought one sooner. I absolutely love my Timemaster and it has significantly reduced the time it takes to mow my just over 1/4 acre lot compared to the undersized/underpowered 21" mower I had. You will find all kinds of reviews out there on it and some are fair opinions while others are a little over the top IMO. Seems like some of the biggest critics treat this mower as a commercial use mower vs residential which it's not a commercial grade mower. The biggest fair criticism is the fuel tank is too small. You may run out of gas before end of your mow if you have a big enough yard but that is not the end of the world for me to put a little more back in to finish when that has happened. The other common criticism is it plugs up too easily which I have never had an issue with. Don't mow your yard when it is wet and it won't plug up as any mower will do that if the grass is too wet. I mostly run mine in mulch mode and have no issues. I don't care for the side discharge mode, looks like windrows when I tried that and I will occasionally use it in bag mode if I need some clippings to mulch my garden with.

Two tips if you do buy one: don't buy it from a place like Lowes, go to an Ace Hardware or Toro dealer as they will set them up there for you. Have heard if you just buy the ones out of the box at Lowes those seem to have more issues for some reason. The other tip is when you clean it up for the winter take the front plastic shield off and remove all the grass clippings that built up around the belts and pulleys. I didn't have a lot in mine after year 1 but friend of mine has the same mower and he never cleaned it and 1 time had the belts not engage and found it was because that area got plugged up over the years with grass clippings.

Been a while since I've shopped for push mowers. 1650 is crazy. Might as well get a riding.

I recently went all in on electric (battery mower) This is what I got, not cheap.

After about 5 mows, I am happy with it. My yard is just big enough where I cant make it all the way on one full charge though, so I'm going to have to get additional (expensive!) batteries.

If I had to buy a battery for an electric mower, do not get in a hurry and pay full price. Where I work we have Dewalt batteries on sale every week. It may not be exactly the battery you have, but $39 for a battery they will be happy to sell you at $169. The flex volt batteries are on sale at least once a month.

At work and don’t have time to find the article I read about an ISU engineer who is testing these batteries to find out what makes them fail, and have issues. Maybe somebody can find it and share. Thanks

I'm selling an old Toro zero turn if anyone is interested. I'd probably part with it for $500 for a fellow Iowa State fan. Bought new in 2006. Had a new motor installed in 2012. 48" deck. Send me a message if anyone is interested and I'll give some more details.

My 2011 Deere JS28 is still going strong. I'll ride that thing until it dies!

However, when it does die, I will go all-in on a battery mower. No gas, no oil changes, and vertical folding/storage is awesome for my limited garage space (4-kids worth of stuff)!
