I need to replace 4 perennial shrubs and a tree this spring. Am I early for planting, or if I go buy them today and put them in would I be ok?

Plenty far into spring for planting shrubs and trees.
Be sure to dig a ridiculously big hole (at least twice the diameter of the root ball), cut the bottom of the root ball so it loosens up, and amend the soil in said large hole. This will help them to take off like rockets once it warms up more.
