It sure would be nice to get a commit from this guy. At 6'8" and 220 lbs he would be a nice addition to the power forward spot for the class of 2008. In addition, he's from Davenport..
He was hurt all of last year. Hopefully the coaching staff has stayed in tough with him. He has some big time schools after him now. We can't keep letting the high major recruits get taken by out of state schools. Actually, I would rather have them go out of state then to go to the Chickensquacks.

I would like to see J'mison Morgan and L.A. Pomlee for the class of 08. That would be solid... J'mison Morgan looks like a beast.

I think Pomlee had some bloodclot issues, and that is why he sat out this year.

I don't think we have a shot at Morgan. L.A. Pomlee for 08 and Brennan Cougill for 09 would be awesome. I want to start getting some of the talent in this state.

Thanks Pres,

He is a big boy. I would like to think McDermott has a good shot at landing him.
Why don't you think we have a shot at landing Morgan? Do you have any inside info?.. It does seem like a longshot given the schools that are in on him and he the state he is from.

No, trust me I do not have any inside info. I'm just going off of what other people have said and it sounds very unlikely that we will get Morgan. Zeller, Markolf or Moore seem more likely. I personally believe we will get either Markolf or Moore. But don't put too much stock in what I think.

If you spend enough time around here, you can see who has the "inside scoop," and who sees that Iowa State is on a list that is, who knows, how old.

It's my opinion that we should try and nab any quality Iowa player. I want Pomlee, I want Cougill, and of course we already have Dykstra coming in 2010. If Dodie is indeed leaving, I'd like us to offer Clayton Vette, Iowa's Mr. Basketball this year. I don't want to miss on those guys.

Vette was indeed good. Last I knew he was still committed to Indiana State, but I have not checked lately. Honestly don't really have the time with term papers due soon. Side note: Term papers are the Devil. Anyways, Vette would not be a bad get. He is listed at 6'9, but I have a buddy who plays pick up games with him during the week and says he is more like 6'6. He could however have more growth in him since he has a brother who is 6'9ish. He had a great state tournament. He can stroke it from 22' and has some nice moves inside. He is definately very athletic. I am not sure how he measures up to some of the other competition because he was somewhat under the radar prior to last summer.

Everybody speaks highly of this Vette kid which is weird. Normally if we get a commit from a 6"9 white kid from Iowa everyone roles there eye's. So this kid must be the real deal.

Has anyone seen Pomlee play?

He played our school when I was a senior in high school, and he was starting as a freshman. He looked soft from what I could tell, although very athletic. The softness may have changed as he got older, though. Anyone know?
