NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Agreed. I'm not a Chiefs fan either, but it shouldn't be a surprise that there are a significant number of negative media attention and fans of other teams going out of their way to punch holes in the hull. A threepeat is unprecedented in the Super bowl era. For a good number of people, that alone is enough reason for them to root against KC.
If you're a Chiefs fan, warm your heart on the heat of their anger for as long as you can. Let every complaint, every whine, every back handed compliment be the seasoning on the giant bowl of popcorn, that the current Chiefs dynasty has been for you.
I won't last forever, and when it ends, plenty of folks will be there to dance on your grave, so definitely enjoy it while it lasts.
Totally get the fans, I was same way with Patriots but the buck/aikman comments suprised me. Obviously biased but those were calls were at best 50/50. If same plays happened today I wouldn't be suprised if flags came out.

The big driver of the hate on the Chiefs are Patriots fans and media like Portnoy with Barstool, and engagement bait accounts like MLFootball.

The first group is worried that the Chiefs might do something their sacred teams couldn’t do.

The 2nd group knows this stuff drives engagement and amps it up to a stupid degree to confirm the biases of opposing fans. It’s all very dumb and really a core part of the ills of social media.

The small market that has started Tyler Palko, Tyler Thigpen, and Damon Huard in the last 20 years now has all of the NFL wrapped around its finger is laughable

I think it’s true they were bad calls

And that’s standard for the home team, top seed, generational QB to get them.

What’s unique is how the Chiefs win nearly every time. Like the Pat dynasty, these “breaks” seem bigger because the Chiefs always win. They always capitalize
In college they'll let you get away with a lot more. Anything remotely high gets a flag in NFL. I respect your opinion though I'm sure if I'm a texans fan I'm complaining.

Any Chiefs fans feel like media is going overboard to generate controversy or a feeling that Chiefs get a ton of calls? Made sense when it was opposing fans but felt like Buck and Aikman went too far discussing the personal fouls against Mahomes yesterday then SVP and Ryan Clark immediately discussed them in aftermath. I didn't see either call as being anything out of ordinary for what is typically called in the NFL for past 15 years even when you slow them down. You can find so many examples of worse roughing calls.
Both were fairly run of the mill calls, IMO. They get blown up by the media because that's what drives those precious clickzzz and sharezzz these days.

The roughing the passer call was from a hit by the defender where the crown of his helmet went into Mahomes' face mask. That's a roughing the passer call in every game for every QB, and has been all season long. Whether the defender's helmet made contact with Mahomes' chest first is completely immaterial. Aikman and Buck went way overboard with their reaction to this one and the call later in the game. Anytime there is contact to the helmet of a sliding QB, they're going to throw the flag. Again, this has been consistently called ALL SEASON LONG in every game. If fans and/or the league don't like how the rules are written or enforced, they can change them in the offseason, but they shouldn't not be called just because of Chiefs haters getting big mad about the Chiefs "getting all the calls."

Everyone complaining about this should watch this video of a roughing the passer call PF called against Chris Jones when they were playing Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game in 2020 (I think, might have been 2019):

There have been far more egregiously called PF's than yesterday's, and I don't remember Dave Portnoy and all those other losers complaining about bad calls when this one happened.

Ever since Joe Buck's reaction to Randy Moss' "disgusting" celebration against the Packers, his opinions on the game ceased to matter to me. He's pretty much a blow hard

I’m confident Rodgers and Brady get that call a decade ago.

Still a bad call. But that’s football

Couldn't agree more. I don't even see yesterday's calls as league protecting one of its stars. I think about any quarterback/team gets those calls. The one above which I still remember was atrocious. Nance and Romo disagreed with the call but didn't go crazy

The first one was a horrible call. Ref was looking for something that never happened.
The second one, To'o To'o had his forearm up like it was in position to hit Mahomes in the neck head area. I think the second Texan player hitting To'o To'o might have stopped him from really making contact. I don't think it warranted a penalty but if the ref is looking for something like last time I can see why he threw the flag.

What did you think of 2 calls In question?
There were two calls that were probably misses, but we see them go both ways week after week. The drama and whining over them has been ridiculous and hilarious though.

I think they should simply review the helmet to helmet personal fouls like they do targeting. Those are bang bang plays. It’s a lot harder to call in real time then in slow motion.

They should be able to do a quick review on hits to the head/neck and facemasks, those are black and white. Don’t need to go to the monitor. Hopefully they address that this offseason.

This. New England seemed like it would never end now it seems like they may never get back.

“Aikman and Buck went way overboard”

Water wet.

I think we all know this is basically a pick’em. Team with more turnovers likely loses.

Home crowd is great, but not likely much of a factor. I don’t see Allen being intimidated at all. Need to bring the A game.
Gonna be crazy. I think we may see Allen try to do one too many things and have a costly turnover late.

It should be a great game, and I hope the Chiefs are ready for it. The offense has struggled this entire season, but they have looked better towards the end. We still have a problem at tackle, which has led to Mahomes being forced to leave the pocket, and the Bills spied him when they played the first time. I think Hunt will have a big game for the Chiefs, and they will do enough to win the game.

It's dumb, but I feel they're about to unleash stuff they've been working on all season that hasn't been used in games this year. I was hoping to see some of that last week, but Houston was dumb enough to leave Kelce uncovered so much that KC would have been even dumber not to take advantage of it.

Heard a little sports radio on Tues, they actually complimented Allen on playing with in himself instead of trying to do too much during that game.

Was hoping ravens would of won last week. Either is huge challenge but we seem to contain jackson better than Allen. This one's likely coming down to last second like most chiefs bills games do. Need last weeks pass rush
