NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Living dangerously but we are getting through it. Teams are just not letting Mahomes and the Chiefs go down field, and KC has adjusted and are taking what the defense is given them. My worry is what is going on with Kelsy, three games in and he has shown little to nothing.

To me it looks like both Mahomes and Kelce have enjoyed the offseason spotlight/partying a little too much. Kelce more, but Mahomes has just been meh. Time to refocus.

He’s old, and too involved in non football things imo. Defenses have figured out both him and Mahomes

Costly win in LA, lots of reports the Rice shredded his ACL on the hit today that he took from Mahomes. WR room is going to be getting thin.

Yep. Getting rough. WR1 in Rice may be out. WR2 in Brown out. RB1 in Pacheco out.

Defense continues to play well. Hunt looked great. Time for internet meme Carson to sit down.

BTW- I guess I was not aware of that rule on the Charger fumble. Seems sketch. I know NFL has considered changing the crap rule that if you fumble on the 1 and it goes out the end zone side, it is a turnover. Should be changed to fumbling team retains possession, but ball is moved back to 20.

In this case, Charger fumbles, Chiefs recover (in bounds), but a Charger laying out of bounds retains possession with just a touch? Horrible rule.

I saw it called last week or the week before, not sure if it was college or NFL game, but they got it right. If you are out of bounce and touch the ball, it becomes dead. Maybe one of rules that needs looked at in the off season.

Always hard to see players get injured. The knee is particularly hard, maybe because it is so common now. Too common.

As we were watching the game today and saw the players flying around and throwing their bodies out there on the field, I turned to my wife and asked her "can you image how those guys feel the next morning?" She didn't answer, good thing they are young, because it would kill an old guy like me.

This same rule was how VT lost to Miami on Friday night

There is a less than zero percent chance the Raiders trade Adams within the division.

Yeah if it was anyone but an AFC West team this would be a logical deal but the Raiders aren't going to trade him in division without looting a bunch of picks from us which would be a bad thing for the Chiefs to do to stock them up with extra draft picks.

Not sure what options or who is out there on the trade block or free agency but they are basically down to Worthy and JuJu as main targets and behind them is Watson, Moore, and Hardman which is not exactly a promising bunch. Hardman is mostly a gadget play guy and Moore has been a huge bust with drop issues.

Not sure what is up with Moore, he only had one target yesterday, dropped it for what would have been a nice 3rd down pickup and was never throw the ball his way again. Wonder if we should not have kept Toney, who I hated and cut Moore instead.

Raiders don't have a ton of leverage with Adams. He's got a base salary of $35 million next year. Word is they'll cut him after this season anyway. Whomever they trade Adams to needs the cap space this year and probably needs to be willing to renegotiate his contract for the future. Based on that, no way a team is giving up too much draft capital to acquire him. KC really isn't in a position to make that deal anyway.

I've seen names like Amari Cooper and Dontae Johnson floated out there, but we'll have to see which teams have no shot after the next week or so and see whose roster they can plunder.

Yeah I can see people like Cooper or Johnson as a more likely candidate. Like you said wait and see which teams are basically out of it and willing to dump some guys.

Crazy Chiefs went from looking great at WR to basically trash pretty quickly. Losing both Brown and RIce is such a huge blow to the offense. They are going to have to lean a lot more into Worthy and have him run a wider variety of routes. Kelce and Gray i think will be heavily counted on and then guys like Hunt and Perrine will probably be utilized more in the pass game.

Maybe Burks from Tennessee, Woods from Houston, or Thielen from Carolina, would be solid adds. Burks would cost more, but has the most tread left on the tires. Woods and Thielen would be reliable targets.
