NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Ravens signed their stud DT for about 24 mill per year. That certainly helps the chiefs in their negotiations with Jones
Also saw they get an additional 5th rounder this year
The bears contract with their CB they resigned will help the chiefs too

Really expect three. Five is a lot.

I keep seeing $95M guarantee but what are the cap hits??
I’m assuming 5 years is to spread out the cost impact towards the salary cap. I’m guessing it’s more similar to a 3 yr deal that could have minimal cap impact if cut or traded after year 3…?

Agree. In some ways, Chiefs seems to be defining their remaining window.

Mahomes 5+ productive years
Kelce 2? productive years
Jones 3? productive years, hopefully 4 & 5 are not guaranteed
Reid 3+ productive years?

It will all have to be rebuilt when Reid retires.

Yeah, but if they add a couple more trophies to the case, no one will care that they inevitably will need to start over from scratch. A franchise and its fans can take a LOT of years of mediocrity in exchange for a decade run of being totally dominant. Ask the Bulls, Pats, Blackhawks, et al.

Sounds like the to-do list now is:
Sneed - tag, trade, extend?
Thuney - restructure
Taylor - restructure
Mahomes - restructure
Reid - extension (hope they don’t release him, but safety free agent market is loaded)

Then draft a WR late in the first. McConkey, Mitchell, Worthy.
