Mahomes and his agent get it!! This attitude will help the Chiefs stay at the top because it will allow Veatch to keep a solid OL in front of Patrick!! All they need to do is give him time to find one of the recievers open and he'll get the job done!!
Well, it's not like he's taking less money because of it. They're converting a roster bonus into a signing bonus. Roster bonus counts towards the cap all at once. Signing bonus can be spread out. Either way, Mahomes still gets the same amount at the same time. There's zero loss for him.

Exactly. This contract was specifically written to be restructured.

Good player. At least was for the Pats:

Good signing. Chiefs still have a lot of work to do to rebuild the OL and signing a guy like this is a good step in the right direction. Probably will be drafting a couple guys in the earlier rounds too I bet but will need some proven vets to fill out the line as well.

Good signing, but I wish they would have spent the big money on a tackle, and maybe looked at bringing KO back at guard. KO posted a video the other day of his rehab and it looks like it is going well. Doubt he wants a backup role with the Chiefs, but who knows. Maybe he won't gather much interest and we can snatch him up again on the cheap.

Good signing, but not sure that they can afford KO back nor need him. They will be getting the Doc. back from Canada, already said he is playing this year, and they are trying to get the Honey Badger to sign an extension.
Only way KO comes back is if he is willing to maybe backup the starters, and comes cheap.

Heard someone on Miller and Condon briefly today talking about the Chiefs and he thinks they'll sign a couple tackles this week and they are far from done with the OL rebuild at the moment. Said KO is a possibility too but would have to be on a cheap deal as they need healthy and reliable guys and he's been banged up lately. Guess that they must needed Williams money with that release but not like they are thin at RB without him.

This would have been a nice signing: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...al-san-francisco-49ers-closed-record-contract

I like to see the Chiefs aren't messing around with rebuilding the OL at least. Have also seen that they are in the mix for TY Hilton too which would be a nice compliment opposite of Hill if they were to sign him. You know they are doing things right when a player they cut even comes out and defends Mahomes contract is not preventing them from making moves: https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article249880308.html

No way the Chiefs could come anywhere close to that type of money this year. The Chiefs were surly offering a short deal, with the idea, you can win a super bowl or two here, and then we will have more money in the future to sign you long-term.

The way the article reads he was ready.to sign with the Chiefs and was using that as leverage to get the 49ers to offer a better deal. I think there are guys out there that will take less to play with Mahomes knowing the Chiefs are built to compete for a Sb right now. Any proven vet without a ring that wants to win now is going to entertain that chance even if it is for less money
