Just got home from the game: Some observations

It's my second time to Baylor on purpose. The first was the shellacking in 2008. How recruits decide to go there is beyond me; zero excitement from the Baylor contingent. Walking into the stadium, I spot two Hok fans, dressed in their douchey gear to which I ask, "Why are you trolls here?". Their answer: "To cheer against you guys." Pathetic.

The Good:

1. White's run was a thing of beauty. It was nice to see one of our guys with breakaway speed for once
2. In horribly windy conditions, KVanderkamp did a decent job punting
3. Darius Reynolds looked like the best receiver on the field, including Wright
4. We contained RGIII pretty well
5. Started the game strong

The Bad:

1. Baylor Stadium. Awful atmosphere. Will never go back
2. Our run Defense. Baylor had zero respect for it and ran all over us. It was sickening to watch them march down the field
3. Did I mention Baylor Stadium sucks? It does...it's horrible.

Worst attendance in two years (I guess County Fair and Rangers game?) and you were right about the atmosphere tonight. Cyclone fans were friendly and did their team proud. We really need that new on campus stadium. Our campus is beautiful and very nice, but FCS is a dump in a horrible part of town.

The Baylor fans were really nice and hospitable actually, I just thought the stadium was dead. Y'all definitely need a new place to play your games. Nice job whipping our ***** tonight.

Agree on both accounts. Our stadium is not Oregon's from a sound standpoint, but it is normally much better than it was tonight. The architecture report on our new stadium is expected to be finished in 6-8 weeks with an announcement coming then, so hopefully ISU will only play one more game in FCS.

The crowd looked awful on TV. I can't imagine if we were ranked in the Top 25, playing at home at night....our place would be packed and rocking....you could see empty seats everywhere, it appeared docile there...what does it take to get a crowd there...an opposing Texas team???

I'm pretty sure these two things are related. We were playing to shut/slow down their passing game, and that opened up opportunities in the running game. They took advantage.

What bothers me about the run game is that ISU did not adjust. I think Ganaway just rushed up the middle for another 20 yards as I type this.

I would have rather had Ganaway run for 20 yards than have Wright running down the sideline for 80. Which is what the coaches also chose.

Exactlyl you see this more in basketball than football. Having a variety of weapons is very, very difficult to defend. If ISU called in the defense to pack the DL it may have stopped Galloway from get 10 a pop but then Griffen would have gotten to the outside and ran for 30 or he would have hit Wright or one of the others for 40. They chose to slow down Griffen and the passing game and got burnt in the running game. Pick your poison; there was no good option.

Baylor is a nice team, but defensively ISU should be hanging their heads today. A 200+ rusher and a 100+ rusher against you in the same game means you did not have a chance to win the game. They controlled the clock. They controlled the field position from start to finish. If that was the defensive game plan, it wasn't a very good one.

They keep showing the stat: If ISU gives up less than 24 points, they are 13-2. If they give up more than that they are 3-10 or something like that. That is a statement about your defense more than anything else IMO.

Was my first trip to Waco/Baylor. Agree on the crowd and stadium. Top 25 team with an electric QB and no one shows up! I don't ever want to hear those Texas teams dissing Ames ever again. Waco, Lubbock and add Stillwater are nothing special.
