Eventually, yes. But you don't just replace Becht, Hansen, Sama, Brahmer, Burkle, Townsend, Sowell, Cooper, Williams, Willich, Ebel, and Patton and not expect to have growing pains for a while.Meh. Guys we haven’t heard much of will become household names and fan favorites.
It's a long way away - seriously, don't worry about it. It'll work itself out.Eventually, yes. But you don't just replace Becht, Hansen, Sama, Brahmer, Burkle, Townsend, Sowell, Cooper, Williams, Willich, Ebel, and Patton and not expect to have growing pains for a while.
The silver lining here isn’t just that youngsters like Q, Beni and Coffey will be getting reps, but that these injured guys will also likely be back—when that wasn’t the case.
Even Jontez had a chance to go pro after this season.
Corner will be loaded in ‘26.
Safety will be loaded in ‘26.
Linebacker will be loaded in ‘26.
And I’m not worried about the DL, even without Big Citrus or Tamatoa. There are enough guys coming back for it to be fine—especially with everywhere else on D being rock solid.
I feel like our definition of “stud” and the staffs’ might be a bit different, because I’m pretty sure this has already been happening.I know that this isn't always how it works, but man if I were a transfer DL with 1 or 2 years left to play and saw what our defense should be bringing back in 26, why would I not want to transfer to Iowa State? A ton of opportunity for a stud transfer.

Tamatoa: “Olay next to Big Citrus? Count me in!”
Tre Bell: “Play opposite Jontez, where you’ve started cranking out Draft picks? Oh, heck yes!”
Sowell and Townsend: “Replace two NFL picks? Where do I sign!”
Jalen Travis: Oh, you just need a LT upgrade? And I can get drafted? Sure!”
The only question is, given how some of the young guys are starting to emerge on the DL, we may not need any stud transfers there.
Of course, that hardly means we won’t take one anyway!
Hawk yes, but pretty sure that they’re about as uber gleeful about KaMori Moore as they were about Orange as a frosh.Agreed - we've seen flashes from just about everyone who's been out there. I'm of course talking about a replacement for Big Citrus. Hawk and Carnell will have a say in that of course. Tamatoa will also be gone next year.
Trey Verdon is gonna be a badass edge rusher. We need to recruit more guys like him.The silver lining here isn’t just that youngsters like Q, Beni and Coffey will be getting reps, but that these injured guys will also likely be back—when that wasn’t the case.
