Respectfully disagree on that, even though it is worth considering when brainstorming on the first pass. Blum is great at play-by-play and seems the obvious choice for pXp, but I think you need someone who played ideally for color commentary. Chris is obviously a CycloneFanatic and legend in his own right, but maybe a player who is near or could come in for the games? Could be different color for basketball and football, by the way. Many programs do that.

Just brainstorming here, but maybe Seneca Wallace for football, or Bandhauer, or Bruns, or Harklau to pair with Blum in the future? I'm really not sure; seems like there's a longer list of options for football color commentary which makes sense given the team is about 7 times bigger. Men's basketball could be harder to find. Ideas? Edit: I would say its pretty obvious Blum for both Men's hoops and football PXP if he wants it, but not sure yet on color once Heft retires.
Todd Bandhauer got his pHD in Mechanical Engineering and is a professor at Colorado State. Maybe you were thinking of Todd Doxzon who has done some analyst work for espn and maybe has done announcing on some of our espn+ games

One thing is for certain. When the Godfather decides to hang up his mic, Iowa State does not have to look far to find his successor. Brent Blum did an incredible job handling the play by play for the Maui tournament. After listening to him call the three games, it's hard to believe play by play isn't his full time job. I LOVE listening to John, but it's great to know that whenever he decides to retire, we've got an outstanding replacement waiting in the wings.

And Blum did it on almost no notice. He was in Utah for the football game, but got called to go to Maui instead of returning.

Would love to see Chris and Blum take over for walters and Heft when they move on.

As long as they get to swear!

Seriously, the podcasts on CF and IE are so much better than when they were restrained by the FCC, corporate owners, and commercials.

Is it weird at all that we have the collective CEO calling a game? I'd doubt that any other collective leader also is an announcer.
I think it sort of could be tied into our NIL budget, i never really have thought of him as being Uber wealthy so I don't think it's a hobby for him but more of a labor of love. He was calling games long before NIL and he's good at it hope he sticks with both.

Thanks for catching my mistake. Doxson would be a good choice to consider as well, but I was actually thinking Rosenfels when brainstorming. But, you're right that Bandhauer hasn't been around to do any color commentary that I've seen so seems like a stretch...
