JJeff Injury Updates

I volunteer as tribute to rub him down tonight while he sleeps.

I watched game summaries from their home game against Alabama and both games against Kentucky today. They had a lot of similarities:
In all three games, Gillispe swished a 3 on Tennessee's opening possession
In all three games, Tennessee had a double-digit lead in the second half
And in all of the games they blew the lead and lost the game.

They really struggled on both ends of the court in crunch time. Their defense seemed to give up a lot of drives to the rim (albeit from Oweh, Aberdeen and Philon) without any help defense. And then they tended to rush and make bad decisions, commit costly turnover, etc. And their go-to in crunch time is a drive from tiny Gillispe or a 15-18ft contested jumper from Ament. While Ament can get that off over almost anyone, it is not a high percentage shot (yet).
The last 4 minutes of the UTenn/Virginia game was an abomination to watch. Both teams worked hard to lose, but Virginia just worked a little harder to lose. UTenn was very rattled.

I'm just watching the TX v Purdue game now, and Tramon Mark just rolled his Rt. ankle. He's shooting his foul shots. Don't know if he'll try to continue playing, looks like it.

Mason Williams too. Correct me if I'm wrong but is he just starting to shoot during the shoot-arounds?
Is your question about Jefferson or Williams?

I heard Williams has been a full participant in practices for a while now. This was our first look at Jefferson putting weight on his foot since the injury

Side note: assuming we don’t lose anyone to the portal, we should have strong guards next year with Toure, Batemon, Williams, and hopefully Milan (assuming he doesn’t go pro)

I was referring to Williams. I went to one of the recent B12 tourney games (ASU), saw the shoot-around, but I didn't remember seeing Williams. So I thought today might have been some kind of milestone for him.

Our Holiday Inn Express-staying experts who were insisting recovery was going to take a year or more and that he was done with ISU and was going pro tomorrow are in shambles
Walking and playing are a lot different deal.

I think Sunday at best…but I’d be shocked if he was 80% even then.

Hope I’m wrong.

He looks like he's still limping a bit, not sure he can run at this point.

I think most of us are realistic about JJ’a condition, that him at shoot around is first step territory, and that if he plays at all tomorrow night his minutes will be limited. My post was more about slamming those who came on here acting like they were medical experts based on nothing and based on nothing more than what they saw on TV acting like his pro career was in jeopardy, and perhaps even life and limb - like a basketball player playing at a high level has never dealt with severe ankle sprains before.
