I will give Chizik a mulligan this year and probably next. You can't walk into a situation like he walked into and expect to change things over night. Year three is when we should expect to see what he's truly capable of as a coach.
What you do want to see is evidence of good teaching, and a solid understanding of the game. There has been some evidence of both in the first four games. There has also been mistakes made by the coaches. I think that the mistakes are acceptable as long as they are repeated.
So, while I am not happy being 1-3, I think that there is some hope for the future.
We do have some good players, just not nearly enough of them, hopefully Gene will continue to do something about it. That, and that alone, will determine his success.
