I noticed my first ones Tuesday (7–1-25) west of Ames in the country. I have a beetle bag and so far it’s working.
I've had an entomologist with the State of Iowa recommend not using beetle traps. The pheromones they use are very strong and will literally attract them from a mile away. You will attract more to your yard than you will catch. Give your trap to someone who lives 4-5 blocks away.

We dont have them as bad in western iowa, but seems like they have been getting worse lately. I decided to put down grub control for the first tome in years on my yard and around my garden and apple trees to see if that helps at all. We will know soon.

Don't know if this works, but some day I'm gonna try it. A guy put together a 4 foot section of 4" PVC pipe and fastened the bag bait into the top. At the bottom he had a deep wide dish of water. They'd fly into the top, drop into the water and no sooner were they in that, the chickens made them a snack. Apparently, the chickens prefer the live moving ones so they snatch them up quickly. Anyone try this?

It's motherfucking surprising that "motherfucking" gets past the motherfucking filters. Samuel L Jackson would have a motherfucking field day on CF.

ok but for real, I just injected all my plants with bt, saw that ************ out there, swatted into some plants but couldn't find the body so I don't think it's dead. Yet. Going back out with a yellow bowl.

We applied milky spore last year and it seemed there were less of them than the previous years. But it's a decent sized yard and we'll need a lot more milky spore.

I've tried a spray on clematis, but mainly just hand pick into soapy water. Twice daily, early and late. But if I'm gone for a few days they go crazy. Really tore up a newly planted beech tree last year.
